CAUSES OF DISCIPLINARY
PROBLEMS
BIAS OR DISCRIMINATION
Bias or discrimination in the classroom
occurs when teachers exhibit favoritism,
prejudice, or stereotypes towards certain
students based on factors such as race,
ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status,
or academic ability. This can lead to
unfair treatment, marginalization, and
resentment among students, ultimately
contributing to disciplinary problems.
UNENGAGING LESSON
Unengaging lessons refer to instructional
practices that fail to capture students'
interest, motivation, or attention. When
teachers present material in a
monotonous, uninspiring, or disconnected
manner, students may become bored,
disinterested, and more prone to
disruptive behavior.
INCONSISTENT DISCIPLINE POLICIES
Discipline policies are those in which the rules and the
consequences for breaking them vary greatly
depending on the circumstance, the parties involved, or
the authority figure imposing punishment. This
disparity could lead to miscommunication, unfair
treatment, and a drop in trust in the disciplinary
process. There may already be disparities between
different groups of people, and these differences may
have an impact on unequal results. Effective discipline
guidelines strive for fairness, consistency, and
openness in order to maintain an equal and supportive
environment.
TEACHER ATTITUDES AND
COMMUNICATION
Teacher attitudes and
communication play crucial roles
in the classroom environment.
Positive attitudes foster a
supportive atmosphere where
students feel valued and
motivated to learn.
BURNOUT AND STRESS
Reduced Emotional Regulation
Decreased Engagement and Connection
Lowered Classroom Management Skills
Diminished Teacher Resilience
Decreased Motivation and Enthusiasm
CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
An environment, in all contexts, is a pivotal point towards determining
the success of a particular objective and contributes to the shaping of
the constituents inside it to be worthy of that success. It is a powerful
machine that has the ability to either restrict or encourage the growth
and progress of people.
In a learning context, most specifically, in the endeavors of a
classroom, the environment greatly influences not only the learning
abilities of students, but the effectivity of the educators as well, after
all, it is a two-way process. In a classroom, the environment must be
as conducive at it could be to the promotion of collaborative,
accessible, and secured teaching process. All of these three elements
should work together to ensure high rate of success of not only the
teaching process, but also the learning process, without at least one
element, the whole triangle will break down.
CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
The following are the possible causes and effect of a destructive,
resistant, and unsecured teaching processes:
A. A teacher doesn’t know how to organize things, hence his desk in
the classroom is full of unnecessary objects. Students witness this set-
up, and a domino effect could happen.
B. A teacher is overwhelmed with personal problems and fails to
keep his emotions with himself. He then goes to his class, with a
frown. The students will then get the impression that the teacher is
not to be pissed off at the moment, with that, the students are painted
with fear and uneasiness during the whole duration of their class.
C. The teacher is too passive and don’t have boundaries. The
teacher-student relationship is abused.
TEACHER’S POOR MANAGEMENT SKILLS
The teachers lack of adequate knowledge and skills in
handling occurrences of misbehavior likewise contribute
to a trouble-prone setting.
Mistakes under Teachers poor management skills:
1. Not Communicating Expectations Clearly
2. Being Inconsistent
3. Not Creating an Action Plan
4. Waiting Too Long to Intervene
5. Going Big Too Quickly
6. Not Following Through
7. Failing to Triage an Issue
8. Not Establishing Relationships
SOLUTION
BUILD TEACHER-STUDENT
RELATIONSHIP
Improving students' relationships with teachers has
important, positive and long-lasting implications for
both students' academic and social development. A
student feels a strong personal connection to her
teacher by receiving more constructive guidance and
praise rather than just criticism. The student is likely to
trust her teacher more, show more engagement in
learning, behave better in class and achieve at higher
levels academically.
IMPORTANCE OF COLLABORATION BETWEEN
TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS, AND SUPPORT
STAFF
As they say, two heads, or more, are better than one. The art of
collaboration could put any organization or group into places. In the
context of teacher-related disciplinary actions, administrators may start
an assessment program to determine the status of each sections or
classrooms, about what type of students are within them, it can be
through clustering them based on performance, attitudes, or overall
behavior. With that, the teachers are able to know more about the classes
that they are assigned to, and will know exactly what is the best
approach to be used to them.
The teachers and the support staff will then be the ones in charge for
constant monitoring through thorough reports and observations in order
to maintain the effectiveness of the teaching and disciplinary techniques
used by the staff members.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
AND SUPPORT

Provide support and training through

offering support and professional
development opportunities for the teacher
to address the identified issues.
CONCLUSION
"Good behavior is the bridge that
connects people and fosters
understanding and unity."
