Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Preliminary

1. Prayer
May we all stand to feel the
presence of the Lord _____ kindly
lead us a prayer.
(In the name of the Father, of the Son,
and the Holy Spirit, Amen.)

2. Greetings
Good morning, Class!
Good morning, Sir.

Before you take your sit, kindly

arrange your chairs and pick up
those litters around you.
Then, you may now take your sit.
Thank you, Sir.

3. Checking of Attendance
Secretary who is absent today?
No one is absent Sir.

That’s good to hear class! Very

good

4. Review
Class what was our lesson
yesterday? The lesson yesterday sir was about
Undefined Terms.

Very good!

B. Motivation
Now, before we move on to our next
topic, let’s have an activity. This activity
is called the "puzzle pics clock"

The teacher will try to test the student if

they have prior knowledge of the types of
angles through an activity.

The teacher will discuss first how to do

this activity, then after that teacher will
show some pictures of a clock randomly in
the two groups. Each group will write
their description of the hands of the given
clock.

Expected Answer:
The 6 types of angles are: Acute, Right,
Obtuse, Straight, Reflex, Full/Complete

Very Good! Some of you have some

background about our new topic.

C. Discussion

Now class, we will discuss about “Angles

“.
Understood?

An angle is defined as the amount of turn

between two straight lines that share a
common endpoint. The common point
where the two lines meet is called the
vertex of the angle. The two rays are
called the arms that make up the angle.
The size of the angle is measured in
degrees. The symbol used for degrees is a
little circle °.

Also, Angles can be named in different

ways.
Have a look at the figure given.

Naming Angles. Angles can be named in

the following ways:
1. Use the vertex and a point from
each side. The vertex letter is
always in the middle. ∠ABC or
∠CBA.
2. Use the vertex only. This only
works if there is only one angle at
a vertex. ∠A
3. Use a number. ∠1

Let’s have another example.

● ∠L, ∠YLI, and ∠3

Say this: This angle is ∠ILY (angle ILY).

What are the other possible names?

No/ Yes, I have, there are four types of

That's right! Observe that this angle can be angles depending on their size in
named as either ∠L, ∠ILY, ∠YLI, or ∠3. degrees. Acute, Obtuse, Straight and
Right
Now, we will proceed to the classification
of Angles.

Students, do you have any prior

knowledge
about the classification of angles? If so,
can you tell us what it is?

Thank you, that's right.

Classification of Angles
Angles are classified according to their
measures. The 6 types of angles are:
Acute,
Right, Obtuse, Straight, Reflex, and
Full/Complete Angle.

Acute angle - is an angle smaller than a

right angle. The range of an acute angle is
between 0 and 90 degrees.

Right angle - a right angle is an angle of

exactly 90°, as in a corner of a square or at
the intersection of two perpendicular
straight lines.

Obtuse angle - The obtuse angle is the

smaller angle. It is more than 90° and less
than 180°. The smaller angle is an Obtuse
Angle, but the larger angle is a Reflex
Angle.

Straight Angle. A straight angle looks

like a straight line and measures 180°. It is
a half revolution of a circle. For example,

Reflex angle. A reflex angle is an angle

that is more than 180 degrees and less than
360 degrees. For example,

Full angle. A full angle, also called a

complete angle, round angle, or perigon, is
an angle equal to radians. corresponding to
the central angle of an entire circle. For
example,

Yes, sir. A protractor.

Now we already know the Classification

of an angle. This time we are going to
determine and calculate how many
degrees are there in an angle.

Do you know what tool is used to measure

an angle?

That’s right! Protractor is a tool used to

measure an angle.

How to use a protractor?

A protractor has two scales: The outer
scale reads from 0° to 180° reading from
left to right. The inner scale reads from 0°
Our Lady of the Pillar College – San Manuel, Inc.

to 180° reading from right to left.

To measure ∠ABC
1. Place the center of the protractor
on the vertex B.
2. Adjust the 0° line or baseline of the
protractor so that it lines up with
the line BC.
3. Since the angle is acute and the 0°
line or baseline was used from the
right, you will take the reading
from the inner scale.

Example:

m∠ = m∠ABC - 180°
m∠ = 60° - 180°
m∠ = 120°
Our Lady of the Pillar College – San Manuel, Inc.
District 3, San Manuel, Isabela

m∠ = m∠A + m∠B + m∠C = 180

m∠C = 180 - m∠A - m∠B
m∠C = 180 - 40 - 60
m∠C = 80

D. Application
From this time class, I want you to try to
answer those question.

Test I. Direction: Encircle the letter of the

correct answer.

1. What angle measures exactly 90 °?

a. b. c.

2. What angle measures more than

90° and less than 180°?

a. b.

Answer: Test I
c. 1. b
2. c
3. What angle measures between 0°- 3. a
90°?

a. b.

c.

Test II. Determine the Degree and

calculate the angle.

1.

2.

3.

4.
Answer: Test II
1.) 87°
2.) 45°
3.) 23°
4.) 135°
5.) 173°

5.

Angle is defined as the amount of turn

between two straight lines that share a
common endpoint.

The 6 types of angles are:

● Acute, Right, Obtuse, Straight,
E. GENERALIZATION Reflex, Full/Complete

Again, class what is angle?

Our Lady of the Pillar College – San Manuel, Inc.
District 3, San Manuel, Isabela

●Less than 90°

● Exactly 90°
● More than 90° but less than 180°
So class, who can summarize the different ● Exactly 180°
types of angles according to their ● More than 180° but less than 360°
measure? ● Exactly 360°

Very Good! Who among you can identify

the measures of each angle? Angles are important in our daily life
because for example Civil engineers use
the angles to construct buildings,
bridges, houses, roads, etc. Carpenters
use angle measuring devices such as
protractors to make furniture.

Very good!
F. VALUING
Now class, what is the significance of
learning different types of angles?

Very Good!
IV. EVALUATION
Direction:
A. Identify what types of Angles shown in the picture below.

B. (4-5) State the differences between each angle that you observe in the picture provided above.

C. Use a protractor to measure each angle as you look at the provided figure.
Our Lady of the Pillar College – San Manuel, Inc.

What is the measure of the following angle?

6. m∠AOB
7. m∠AOE
8. m∠AOD
9. m∠AOC
10. m∠AOF

V. ASSIGNMENT
Determine the type of angle of the following whether it is acute, right, obtuse, reflex, straight, or full.
1. 76°
2. 23°
3. 179°
4. 268°
5. 180°
6. 63°
7. 9°
8. 90°
9. 233°
10. 360°
