Given:
NaOH Solution (Initial Volume): 40 mL Initial Volume – Final Volume

NaOH Solution (Final Volume): 32 mL 40mL – 32mL = 8 ml (Volume of Titrant Added)

NaOH Solution (Concentration): 0.8 M

HCl Solution (Concentration): ?

Solution:
0.8 mol 1L 1 mol HCl 1L 1000 ml
= × × 8 ml NaOH solution × × ×
1 L NaOH sol ’ n 1000 mL 1mol NaOH 40 mL HCl solution 1L

= 6400 M
40 , 000
=0.16 M
Concentration 1= 0.8 M C1V1=C2V2

Concentration 2= 40 M 0.8M × 40 mL = C2 × 32 mL

Volume 1= 40 mL NaOH 32 mL × 0.8 M = C2 × 32 mL

25.6
Volume 2= 32 mL NaOH C2=
32

C2= 0.8 M

Procedure:

1. Fill the burette with NaOH sol’n.

2. Record the initial volume of NaOH sol’n.
3. Set-up the titration using iron clamp and iron stand.
4. Measure 40mL HCl sol’n using the pipette in the Erlenmeyer flask.
5. Pour 3 drops of phenolphthalein indicator in the Erlenmeyer flask.
6. Titrate the HCl sol’n until point pink color is achieved.
7. Record the final volume of NaOH in the burette.
TIME: 4:57
