KINDS OF ENGLISH

TEXT
For 9th Grade
Text is a collection of sentences that form
a coherent paragraph and has a certain
structure with certain aims and objectives.
In general, there are 13 types of text.
However, only 5 types of text that must be
learnt.

DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
Descriptive text
Descriptive text is a type of text in English that describes in detail the inherent
nature and characteristics of people, plants, and inanimate objects.

Purpose: To describe something in detail

Characteristic features :
● Using the simple present tense
● Use adjectives
● Use connecting words/sentences

Generic structure
● Identification: contains an introduction to the object to be described
● Description: contains a description of the object of discussion, both features,
properties, etc.

RECOUNT TEXT
Recount text
