Upgraded Design Features and Enhancements 2 Second Short-Time
The PowlVac® Series 4 Breaker is the next generation of Powell metalclad vacuum circuit breakers since our
initial breaker was first introduced to the marketplace in 1982. Updates and design enhancements include: Wide variety of racking options
• Upgrade of Primary Disconnects on all 36-inch frame breakers, allowing a greater degree of
alignment tolerance between the circuit breaker and cell mounted stab assembly. Contact
assemblies are separable from the breaker stab assembly and can be removed or replaced for
maintenance and repairs.
• Secondary control wiring harnesses are now a universal design for each breaker frame size and rating.
• All Series 4 breakers now include a 32-pin secondary disconnect assembly. This upgraded secondary
disconnect is now a universal design for each breaker frame size and includes wiring for all control
options of Powell’s CBM® device. Four of the pins are reserved for future communications use.
• All Series 4 frames and wiring harnesses are designed to support installation of Circuit Breaker
Monitor® at the factory or in the field at a later date.
• Full interchangeability with older PowlVac® breakers can be accommodated with minor
modifications.
• All Series 4 PowlVac® breakers offer on-board racking as an option.
