One characteristic of language is that it is dynamic, which means that it is constantly changing. As an
example, in Pride and Prejudice (BBC), one character, Ms Caroline Bingley asks Ms Elizabeth Bennet to
“take a turn about the room” which, translated to today’s language, means to walk around or stretch
your legs.
