Some people argue that the public should be allowed to have guns, while others do not

agree.
Discuss both views and give your opinion

In modern society, as the interest of the general populace in social security has accrued, there
have been a significant number of discussions as to whether the lay people should be armed with
personal weapons. Adherents OF this idea argue that possessing such firearms is fundamental,
whilst detractors believe that it is nothing but detrimental to the society. I will explore the argu-
ments from both sides and express my advocacy FOR the latter opinion.

The main argument used to advocate the individual ownership of light weapons is based on the
aspiration for self-defence. Proponents believe that carrying guns is the most effective way for
citizens to protect themselves from possible threats from AGGRESSOR/ATTACKER/ASSAILANT.
However, FROM MY POINT OF VIEW such an idea only applies to the primitive society. The
world we are living in is systematically developed enough to have other measures, including but
not limited to police or troops, to secure our lives. A 2023 report issued by the United Nations
found that owning a gun rarely HAD tangible influences on social security.

I can follow it. I think the example is a little bit ‘flat’ and I don’t have strong sense of chang-
ing from the GROUP to YOU…

The opposing argument is that letting the average citizen own arms only WORSENS/EXACER-
BATES crime rates other than decreases them. In fact, the government of the United States has
allowed carrying guns among the general populace over the centuries, but the number of
gun-related crimes thereof has increased without halt year by year. So what do you think
about that argument? For example, a New York Times article of the last year reported that the fre-
quency of mass shootings happened in the states has incessantly increased over the years.

hrm.

In conclusion, whilst allowing individual firearms seems the most tangible and easiest way to pro-
tect ourselves, there are other PROGRESSIVE measures THAT HAVE BEEN well devised by the gov-
ernments enough to secure us. I firmly advocate banning the ownership of individual weapons, as
I believe that the prevalence of possessing guns only leads to baneful effects on society.
