Topic Anti-Bullying Pledge

Objectives Students will be able to:


● Create an anti-bullying pledge
● Present their anti-bullying pledge to students, teachers, and
administrators

● Use information from illustrations and words, in print or
digital text, to demonstrate understanding of characters,
setting, or plot.

● Write informative/ explanatory texts to examine a topic and

● Participate in individual or shared research and writing

Materials ● The Juice Box Bully by Bob Sornson Video version


● The Pledge paper
● Chromebooks
● Poster board
● Markers, pencils, erasers, colored pencils, crayons
● Projector
● Adobe Premiere Pro software for video editing
● Jamboard
● Rubric

Lesson Students will research, create, and present an anti-bullying pledge.


Description

DAY ONE 1. Students will write on the Jamboard any anti-bullying strategies
they know as well as bullying issues or school specific
anti-bullying strategies.
2. Read The Juice Box Bully by Bob Sornson as a class.
3. Discuss “The Promise” in the book.
4. Give each student a copy of “The Promise” from the book.

DAY TWO 1. Review “The Promise” from Day 1.


2. Explain that students will be creating their own Promise
(Anti-Bullying Pledge) and presenting it to the class and school
administrators. The winning Promise will be used school-wide for
students to sign during National-Anti Bullying Month activities.
3. Students will choose their presentation method (Google Slides,
Poster, video, or other teacher approved method).
4. Students will choose 5 individual pledges that will be put together
into their overall pledge.
a. Pledges should be approved by the teacher by the end of
class.

DAY THREE 1. Students will use their chosen presentation method to create their
pledge.
2. Students should fix anything that was discussed with the teacher
the previous day.

DAY FOUR 1. Students will rehearse their presentations.


DAY FIVE 1. Students will present their pledges to the class and a panel of
teachers and administrators.
2. The audience will vote for the winning pledge to be used
school-wide during the month’s anti-bullying activities.
3. Students will be evaluated using a rubric.
