MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS FOR LENT 2022

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Lent is a favourable time for personal

and community renewal, as it leads us to the paschal mystery of the
death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For our Lenten journey in
2022, we will do well to reflect on Saint Paul’s exhortation to the
Galatians: “Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we
shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up. So then, while we have
the opportunity (kairós), let us do good to all” (Gal 6:9-10).

Editorial
Jesus is Risen! Alleluia! In the joy of those words,
We wish you all a blessed and happy Easter.

W elcome to another edition of Marthoma Vision. This edition brings you the up-
dates from the eparchy from January to March.
On these days of Easter week, we rejoice that Jesus, who is the Light of the World,
rose from the dead. In his Resurrection, we find our hope and our joy.
This celebration is at the heart of our Christian faith. When we open our hearts to
the wonder of this message, we walk with Jesus, sharing in his life and his peace. His
message is one of hope for all.
As we renew our promises of baptism at Easter, may we who profess faith in his Res-
urrection strive to bring Jesus’ hope to all, particularly those who are poor and those
who live in fear.
Perhaps today, many of us find ourselves in a similarly dis-consoling place. Just
when it seemed that the Covid-19 pandemic was finally receding, Russia invaded
Ukraine. Already, lives have been lost, livelihoods destroyed, and people displaced by
this action. The situation is deeply troubling. Yet this is only the most recent and visible
exercise of violence to capture our world’s attention and concern.
As we enter the holy week, let us lift in prayer the people of Ukraine and all those
whose lives are affected by war and violence. This Easter, as Pope Francis invited all of
us and people of faith around the world to join in prayer and to fast for the cause of
peace, especially for the people of Ukraine, let us pray for peace. Like the disciples, we
search for Easter hope in the wake of Good Friday suffering.
As the Covid restrictions ease, our eparchy at all levels is getting back to some nor-
malcy. Parishes and missions communities have become more active pastorally. The
9th pastoral council was the highlight of the last three months; we have included a
detailed report of the 9th pastoral council of our eparchy. All departments, including
the catechesis, youth apostolate and the family apostolate, have been busy planning
many of their events for the rest of the year. Exciting times ahead for the eparchy.
A blessed Easter to everyone. We pray that all your celebration of this great feast
is a time of grace. Let us live in the light Jesus shows us as we strive to love as he has
shown us.

Orange was established in 2014. We are a small
mission with a moving community of around 60-70
families at any given time.
We have had the pleasure of hosting his Excellen-

during his first visit. Later he visited the mission in
2021 and guided us in our endeavours like transition-
ing to accounting in MYOB and witnessed first hand
the growth in the community. He gave solemn Holy
Communion to 2 kids in the mission during that visit
and held meetings with the acting parish council and

BISHOP’S FIRST EVER VISIT TO DABBO NSW

Bishop Bosco Visited the Syro Malabar Community in Dubbo, NSW.

It is a relatively small community of Syro-Malabar faithful in the thriving NSW regional centre of Dubbo.
Dubbo is Affectionately known as 'the city of smiles' Dubbo has long been known for its rich history and
breathtaking natural beauty. Nestled in the foothills of the Mount Arthur Reserve, where the Bell and Macquarie
Rivers meet, this charming town is a bona fide nature lover's paradise.
Bishop Bosco Puther and the Syro- Malabar Eparchy are committed to caring for the Syro-Malabar
community's pastoral needs in the region. There are several steps taken in this regard.
The above photo is taken after my first Qurbana for the Syro-Malabar community in Dubbo on Tuesday,
15 March 2022. Fr. Augustine Mathew Themgumpallil CMI, the chaplain, is seen in the photo.

YESHUVINOPPAM 2022

A s we commence the Lenten season on Monday 28th of

February, we are reminded that “if not for Christ’s will-
ing death, we would still be dead in sins. If not for Christ’s
resurrection, we would have no hope of eternal life.”
Let us come before the Lord through the three pillars
of lent – prayer, fasting and almsgiving as we prepare our
hearts for renewal.
Yeshuvinoppam is back again this year with more dai-
ly challenges and daily scripture readings as we journey
through this Lenten season together.
Please look out for the daily challenges that will be
posted on our social media platforms (Facebook, Insta-

forget to share with your friends and family as well!

19.02.2022 Saturday is a memorable day for the

parishioners of Melbourne West. It has become a his-
torical day written in golden letters in the history of
St. Mary’s Parish Melbourne West as the consecration
of the long-awaited dream project has been fulfilled.
It became the proud day of our parish that we be-
came the first parish in the metropolis of Melbourne
to complete the construction of the new church that
proclaims the Syro-Malabar traditions, legacy, heri-
tage, art and architecture. Our migrant parents have
done a wonderful work for the greater glory of God
and for future generations. Bishop Bosco had con-
secrated and dedicated the church along with many
priests as concelebrants.
The public meeting had commenced at 5.50
pm with distinguished guests from socio-political
