INTRODUCTION
This assignment enlightens about a business, what is an entrepreneurship, the
business environments, stakeholders, CSR and most importantly what keeps the
business running. Bathu is about a vision of a sneaker that tells the African story to life.
Entrepreneurship is a process of coming up with new business ventures through
innovation and creativity that are going to solve complex social and environmental
challenges. This assignment tells a story and the motive behind Theo Baloyi to start a
business.

QUESTION 1
1.1 Entrepreneurship is a procedure of gathering natural resources , human resource
, and capital to create goods and services with an aim of making profit .An
entrepreneur is an individual who sets up a business taking on financial risks.
E.G : From the case study we read it has shown that Theo Baloyi is an entrepreneur
whom picked out a gap in the market of quality African sneaker.

1.2 (1). Wealth creation – entrepreneurs have potential to build wealth through a variety
of method for themselves and their employees through profitable business
venture.
(2).Social impact – entrepreneurs ventures can address societal needs.
(3).Economic growth - entrepreneurs can quicken economic activity .
(4).Innovation and creativity – entrepreneurs often come up with brand new ideas
to the forth driving innovation and improving products and services .
(5). Creation of jobs - entrepreneurs like Baloyi have the chance to create job
opportunities for others.
(6). Competition and market dynamics – entrepreneurs have a significant impact
on competition and market dynamics .

The types of stakeholders that have a stake in the sustainability and performance of

the Bathu business.

• Suppliers -To supply correct materials for business

• Customers – To rely on Bathu for better delivery of quality shoes

• Investors – They invest money expecting returns.Meaning they rely on the


success of the business.

• Government – To ensure that Bathu adhere to safe working environments for


employees and also collects tax.

• Media – They show case Bathu business on billboards and the media platforms
at larger for growth and influence.

QUESTION 3
Corporate social responsibility is a management concept where companies include
social and environment concerns in their business operations and interactions with
their stakeholders. Bathu fulfilled its corporate social responsibility by creating
sustainable jobs for the people in its community and other communities by employing
more than 60 people from Alexandra. The business also makes use of materials that
are sourced and made locally thus supporting local business. They have also started
donating school shoes to schools and plan on donating 1 million pairs of school shoes
in the next 10 years. Under their #do different project, the company has committed to
assisting underprivileged children. Bathu also demonstrates its CSR through the
ethical business practices, diversity and also community well-being. As part of
marketing Bathu has also represented a social responsibility drive under the #Bathu
for Batho care project. The campaign or brand includes partnering with various
charities such as Nelson Mandela foundations and department of social development
to provide shoes, sanitary pads, uniforms food to schools.

Covid-19 has affected the business environment of the business because some of the
plans are delayed by the covid-19 pandemic, which led to loss of revenue. Bathu
places people before profit even though they had to let some people go initially but
have been able to rope those people back into the business as they are important to
the brand. Bathu sneakers range from kiddie’s cuts at R800 to the mesh edition at
R1200 but because of covid 19 it went up to R1700. Other business environment that
might have an impact on bathu business are Market Environment (Intermediaries) and
Macro Environment.

Top Level Management


The managers(Theo Baloyi) in bathu are responsible for the organisation’s
sustainability, growth and long-term success. They set the company’s overall vision
and define broad strategies to archive them. They make decisions that affect the whole
organisation such as business partnerships, mergers and acquisitions. Financial
investments changes to the brand values or launching new product. Theo Baloyi, the
founder of Bathu, holds this position. His tasks involve making high-level decisions,
exploring expansion opportunities (such as diversifying overseas),

Middle level management


The middle management in bathu are responsible for all day-to-day operations such
as planning, budgeting, and staffing. They are also responsible for setting sales or
operational goals for departments and also resolving conflicts between employees. At
Bathu, there is a marketing manager responsible for promoting new sneaker releases.
Their tasks include planning marketing campaigns, collaborating with designers, and
analysing market trends.

First Line Management


In the first level management in Bathu they are primarily responsible for overseeing a
department or team of employees. In a general sense, then ensure that their team fulfils
the daily and overreaching goals of a given organisation. They understand how to
motivate team members effectively, track targets, take metrics develop schedules and
ensure team members are staying focused.
Non-Managerial Employees
The non-managerial positions are essential to the Bathu company’s mission and goals,
though they have less responsibility, decision making and accountability than
managers. They can fill entry level roles or even mid-level jobs. Here are some
examples of non-managerial positions within the Bathu department, Bathu tellers.

CONCLUSION
Bathu business has grown across the country. In order for bathu to always be the best
shoes African brand, they need to work together with the community and always keep
up with the new trends, know what their customers want and longing for. Bathu staff
getting along and having a connection or relationship with their boss will help the
employee to always be consistent and be determined to do their work without being
lazy. Bathu needs to always make sure that they have suppliers who always show up,
a good marketing strategy and most importantly they should delivery shoes with
quality.
