Ingestion: Request a physician or contact the poison control center. Drink 1-2 glasses of
water, if the victim is conscious. Do not induce vomit. Do not give anything by mouth if the
victim is unconscious.
The most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: Kamoran
contains Monensin Sodium, highly toxic and may cause burns or permanent damages to
the eye tissues. It may be irritating to the skin and the respiratory system, and may
probably cause allergic reactions. The effects of the exposure may include changes in the
heartbeat/rhythm and in the tissues of the heart and muscles.

Notes to the physician: There is no specific antidote. But symptomatic and supportive
treatment. Toxic if swallowed. Irritating to the respiratory system and the skin. Risk of
permanent eye damage.

Section 5 – Firefighting Measures

Appropriate Fire Extinguishers: Water, carbon dioxide, chemical powder, foam or Halon.

Specific hazards of the substance or mixture: As a particulate material, there is the

possibility to form some dust mixtures in the air that may explode if in contact with an
ignition source .It may generate toxic fumes when exposed to heat or fire.

Firefighting team protective measures: Respiratory system protective equipment and

full protective clothing. Fight fire or monitor the nozzles from the maximum possible
distance. If possible fight fire to the downwind side. For large fires use hose supports or
monitor the nozzles. If this is not possible leave the area.

Section 6 – Control Measures for Spill or Leak

Personal precautions:

For people who are not part of the emergency services: Eliminate all the ignition
sources. Do not smoke in the risk area and avoid occurring sparks or flames. Isolate the
area within a 100 meters radius in all directions. Do not touch the damaged containers or
the spilled material without appropriate clothing. Avoid inhalation, eye and skin contact.
Use personal protective equipment as described in section 8.

For the staff who are part of the emergency services: Use full PPE with safety glasses,
PVC protective gloves and waterproof clothing.

Precautions to the environment: Avoid contact with water ways, reservoirs and lakes.
Moderate to slightly toxic for aquatic animals

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning: If possible stop the spill/leak flow
and make embankments, preventing the material to reach the drains, soil and water ways.
Prevent the dust dispersion in the air and stay tuned to possible risks of explosions when
using electrical equipments. For final disposal proceed according to FISPQ section 13.
Major proportion spills resulting from traffic accidents, etc, should be immediately reported
to CHEMTREC and Quimica Real, in order to receive assistance.

Differences in the actions in large and small leaks: There are no differences between
the actions in large and small leaks of this product.

Section 7 – Handling and Storage

Appropriate Technical measures for handling

Precautions for safe handling: For the product safe handling it is recommended the use
of PPE (gloves, respiratory protective masks and glasses), as well as to avoid skin contact
with the product, with strong oxidizing agents and the use of compressed air equipment
so as there is no dispersion of the product.

Hygiene Measures: Eating and smoking is forbidden in the work place. It is also
recommended to wash the hands after handling the product, remove contaminated cloths
and protective equipments before entering eating areas

Safe storage conditions including any incompatibility: Store in dry place and protected
from light. Protect against moisture, heat and strong oxidizing agents (permanganates,
peroxides, nitric acid). Maximum stacking four 10kg boxes. The product should not be
used after the expiring date printed in the package.

Occupational exposure Limits: Monensin Sodium - CAS 22373-78-0 - LEG: 15

micrograms/m3 TWA per 12 hours.

Engineering Control Measures: Promote mechanical ventilation and exhaustion system

direct to outside. These measures help to reduce the exposure to the product. It is
recommended to have emergency showers and eye washers available in the worksite.
Keep the substance concentrations or mixtures below the required occupational exposure
limits.

Personal protection measures:

Respiratory Protection: Use approved respiratory protection equipment

Eyes / Face Protection: Use chemical resistant eye protector and/or face protector.

Skin and body Protection: In the production environment use chemicals resistant
clothing, gloves, and safety goggles.
