II. CONCEPT NOTES


Create Custom animation using MS PowerPoint

A PowerPoint presentation is a type of visual support in which you can show


actual pictures, video clips or a movie about a topic. PowerPoint is a presentation
program developed by Microsoft. It is incorporated in the standard Office suite
along with Microsoft Word and Excel. PowerPoint is a powerful presentation and
graphics program that involves creating a presentation starting with basic design,
adding slides and content, choosing layouts, and modifying slide design. The
software or program allows users to make anything from basic slide shows to
modified presentations.
PowerPoint Environment and its part

Quick access - includes a set of commands that is independent on the


tab of a ribbon that currently displayed.
Title bar - normally appears at the top of the screen. It displays the title
of the current presentation

Control toolbox - located right top of the user interface, where you can
close, restore, and maximize, and minimize the windows program.

Tab menu - position below of the title bar and these are FILE, HOME,
INSERT, DESIGN, TRANSITIONS, ANIMATIONS, SLIDE SHOW,
REVIEW, and VIEW.

Ribbon Menu - position under of the tab menus and this menu contains
all the commands and other menu items that you can help to find the
command easily to finish your work.

Sorter panel - position left side of your user interface, all the slides will
arrange in vertical order from top as first slides down to your last slides.

Slide template- position at the center of your user interface, this is the
biggest part where you can start and put your design in Presentation,
animation, effects and more.

Animation pane- it is a pane or panel which display the animation


functions you use in your slide template.

ZOOM IN and OUT SLIDING BAR- enlarges and decreases the view of
your slide template at the center.

Add note or NOTES PANE- a panel which positions at the bottom of your
user interface which you can type notes that you can accompany a slide.

Status bar- it positions below of the user interface and left side of the
zoom in/out sliding bar and view buttons of slide show and notifies
what slide number you use in your application.

The four types of animations

• Entrance: Controls how the object enters the slide, e.g. is the Bounce
animation, the object will drop onto the slide and then bounce several
times.

• Emphasis: These animations occur while the object is on the slide and
are often triggered by a mouse click, e.g., you can set an object to Spin
when you click the mouse

• Exit: Controls how the object exits the slide, e.g., is the Fade animation, the
object will simply fade away.
• Motion Paths: These are similar to Emphasis effects, except the object moves
within the slide along a predetermined path, like a circle.

Adding Animation

Slide animation is a moving computer graphic effects that can be added to


the text, object or entire slide.

1. Click Animation tab and go to the Advanced Animation group.

2. Select the animation from the list of the options group as Entrance,
Emphasis and Exit.

Effect options

Some effects will have options you can change, e.g. is the Fly In effect,
you can control which direction the object comes from.

command in the Animation group can be accessed for several options.

To add multiple animations to an object:


If you select a new animation from the menu in the Animation group, it will
replace the object's current animation. Though, you will sometimes want to place
more than one animation onan object, such with an entrance and exit
effect.To perform this, you will need to use the Add Animation command,
which allows you to keep your current animations while adding new ones.

1. Select the object.


2. Click the Animations tab.
3. In the Advanced
Animation group,
click the Add
Animation command
to view the available
animations.

4. Select the desired animation effect.


5. If the object has more than one effect, it will have a different number for
each effect. The numbers imply the order in which the effects will occur.
To copy animations with the Animation Painter

1. Click the object that has the


effects you want to copy.
2. From the Animations
tab, click the Animation
Painter command.
3. Click the object you want
to copy the effects to. The
effects will be applied to
the object.
To reorder the animations

1.Select the number of the effect you want to change.


2.From the Animations tab, click the Move Earlier or
Move Later commands to change the ordering.

To preview animations

1.Navigate to the slide you want to preview.

2.From the Animations tab, click the Preview command. The


animations for the current slide will play.
The Animation pane

The Animation pane allows you to view and manage all of


the effects that are on the current slide. You can modify and
reorder effects directly from the Animation pane, which is
especially useful when you have several effects.
To open the Animation pane:

1.From the Animations tab, click the Animation Pane command.

2.The Animation pane will open on the right side of the window.
It will show all of the effects for the current slide in the order
they will appear.
To reorder effects from the Animation pane:

1.On the Animation pane, click and drag an effect up or down.


2.The effects will reorder.

To preview effects from the Animation pane:

1.From the Animation pane, click the Play button.


2.The effects for the current slide will play. On the right side of
the Animation pane, you will be able to see a timeline that
shows the progress through each effect.
To open the Effect Options dialog box:

1.From the Animation pane, select an effect. A drop-down


arrow will appear next to the effect.
2.Click the drop-down arrow and select Effect Options. The
Effect Options dialog box will appear.
3.From here, you can add various enhancements to the effect:

 Sound: This adds a sound effect to the animation.


 After animation: This changes the color or hides the
object after the animation is over.

 Animate text: If you are animating text, you can choose


to animate it all at once, one word at a time, or one letter
at a time.

To change the effect timing


1.From the Effect Options dialog box, select the Timing tab.
2.From here, you can add a delay before the effect starts, change the
duration of the effect, and control whether the effect repeats.

Learning Task 3: Apply Your Learning

Directions: Select a topic from your specialized subject last semester and
create a powerpoint presentation with the following steps provided below.
1. Create a powerpoint presentation composed of not less than 15
slides . Double -click selected object for ClipArt Gallery/Illustrations.
Select the categories you want. Recolor all slides.
2. Change your text or object animation by using Custom animation
task pane.
3. Create slide transition to add special effects during the slide show.
4. Apply custom animation each slide. Add effects for text and objects
of each slide using Emphasis.
5. Select a slide to create custom motion path using Edit point.
6. Create a smooth start animated objects.
7. Add transition effect between slides.
8. Save your presentation (Lastname,Firstname) as file name.
10. 9. Submit a copy of this presentation in our google classroom.
