Lesson Week Assessment

Topic: Math
Standard: 1.OA.1
Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to,
taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g.,
by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent
the problem.
Objective: By completing the given worksheets the students will be able to solve story problems
of addition/ subtraction up to 20 and
finding the sum/ difference for each by answering all 5 with 100% accuracy with corrections.
Description: Students will solve word problems using dice to find the numbers they can use.
There will be 5 word problems that the students will solve.
Ex: Adam has ___ toys, Marie has ___ more. How many more toys does Marie have?
The students will roll the dice and add the numbers in the blanks then solve.
They will then draw a picture that matches the story. If the two numbers they drew was 4 and 5
then they would draw 4 toys, plus 5 more.
Rationale: By solving the word problems and drawing pictures that match the students show that
they have an understanding of how to solve them. Drawing pictures allows for a visual aspect
that they can use for other mat problems.
Differentiation: For the students who are struggling readers the problems were read out loud.
This way their ability to solve story problems will not be judged off of their reading ability as
well.

Standard: RL.1.2
Analyze literary text development. a. Demonstrate understanding of the lesson. b. Retell stories,
including key details.
Objective: Using the graphic organizer students will recreate the story by covering all 3 main
points.
Description: We will do a read-aloud with the Money Bunny story, after reading the book we
will then fill out an analyzing worksheet where we will discuss the beginning, middle, end of the
story, characters, and setting. After we have filled this out the students will be split into small
groups where they will use cut-out characters to retell the story to each other.
Rationale: Having the students act out the story to each other will show that they understood it
and remember the characters. This is important when retelling a story because you need all of the
main points to make it make sense.
Differentiation: For some student it can be difficult to remember all the details of a story so if
they struggle with this then they will have a different rubric to go off of. With this instead of
having to know the characters name they just have to tell the basic story and can stick to telling
on characters story rather than the three.
For all students Differentiated
Topic: Social Studies
Standard: Financial literacy 14
Currency is used as a means of economic exchange.
Objective: By referring to the vocabulary sheet students will be able to relate the vocabulary
words to the story and make connections.
Description: We will go over all of the vocabulary words on the sheet and discuss them. We will
the read the story Money Bunny and have a discussion about the words and how they can
connect back to the story.
Rationale: By having the students relate the vocabulary words to the story it shows that they
have an understanding of what they mean, this is better than just reading and talking about them.
By relating them back to something it can help them remember it.

There is no rubric for this lesson because it is a classroom conversation. It will not be assessed
individually but as a class
Topic: Science
Standard: 1.ESS.1-1
Use observations of the sun moon and stars to describe patterns
Objective: Using the moon phase foldable students will complete the puzzle by placing all of the
pieces in the correct space. (8 pieces in 8 correct spots)
Description: We will watch a BrainPOP video on the moon phases, after this we will you the
knowledge from the video to fill out a foldable. It will have all 8 moon phases on the front and
when you open it that is where the students will put the phases. We will use this to complete the
puzzle. Each student will get a phase and as a class, they have to work together to put it in te
correct space.
Rationale: By having the students put all of the moon phases in the correct space it shows that
they understand the order and what they are called.
Differentiation: The moon phases have long and complicated words so if any students are not
confident in their spelling or their handwriting a printed version of the phases will be given so
they can glue them in the foldale instead of writing them.
