Causes of Road Accidents

News about road accidents and road accidents fatalities always appear in
newspapers and on news bulletin over the radio and the television. Some people lose their
life whereas some suffer serious injuries. On many occasions, school children were the
victims. It is for the reason that our school has decided to launch a “Road safety Week”
campaign with the aim of raising awareness among the students on the need to be more
responsible on the road.
Why do road accidents occur? One of the causes of the road accidents is because the
road users or the students do not use the overhead bridge available while crossing the busy
road. These students think that using the overhead bridge will waste their time and they
tend to take risks by running across the road. Their action is very dangerous to them as they
might be hit by the speeding vehicles. So, students are advised to use the overhead bridge
or zebra crossing where available when crossing the busy road.
Riding bicycles side by side in the middle of the road is another cause of road
accidents. This is very dangerous because they might be hit from the back by other vehicles.
To avoid this from happening, they have to follow the flow of the traffic and cycle in a single
file along the road.
Apart from that, students might be the victims of road accidents if they play on the
road. They enjoy themselves running, talking and joking with one another while crossing the
road without realising the dangers that they might face. So, students are advised to be
careful when walking or crossing the road as it is not a playground.
Finally, the other cause of road accidents is the students are not being alert when
using the road. They tend to talk with one another while walking along the road or while
crossing the road. Sometimes they do not aware of the oncoming vehicles and their careless
actions might cause unfortunate accidents to happen.
Putting it in a nutshell, it is really important that all the road users follow the road
safety rules in order to prevent road accidents. As we all know, “prevention is better than
cure”. So, it is safer to follow these rules than to be sorry. We should remember that safety
is our responsibility.

Road accidents happen everyday. Some people lose their life whereas some suffer
serious injuries. Why do accidents happen? There are many causes of road accidents.
Firstly, the students do not use the overhead bridge when crossing the road. They
think that using the overhead bridge will waste their time and energy. So, these students
tend to take it easy by running across the busy road. This action is very dangerous to them.
Besides, the school students also ride their bicycle side by side when they go to
school or come back from school. This is very dangerous to them because they might be hit
by the speeding vehicle. Students should cycle in a single file so that they are safe on the
road.
Apart from that, some of the naughty students enjoy themselves playing on the
road. They should know that the road is not a playground and it is a very dangerous place to
play. If they are careless, they might be involved in an accident.
Finally, students are not alert when walking or crossing the road. They sometimes
enjoy themselves talking with their friends and they do not aware of the oncoming vehicles.
They should be more careful when using the road to prevent accidents from happening.
As a conclusion, we must follow the road safety rules when using the road in order
not to be the victim of the road accidents. We should remember that safety is our
responsibility.

Everyday many people are involved in road accidents. Some are killed. Many more are
injured or maimed. So it is important for us to learn to use the roads properly and safely. No
sane person would like to be involved in an accident.

As the roads are very busy nowadays, we should be very careful when crossing one. It is
safer to use a pedestrian crossing or an overhead bridge whenever one is available. Never
cross a road by dashing across it. That is inviting trouble. If there are no crossings, then we
must look carefully right and left and cross only when it is safe to do so.

Some of us take the bus to school. It is important that we do not try to get on or off a bus
while it is still moving. I tried to get on a moving bus once. It dragged me a short distance
and nearly ran over me. I was lucky to escape with only some scratches on my legs. Also we
must not fool around while in the bus. A suddenly lurch can send us knocking our heads
against something hard.

Using a bicycle can be dangerous too. We must pay attention on the road and never cycle too
far out to the middle of the road. We must obey all traffic rules. Also we must make sure our
bicycles are in good condition with working brakes, lights etc.

These are some things we can do to avoid accidents. However there is no guarantee that we
will never be involved in one. The important thing is to stay alert at all times while using the
roads. We must know what is happening around us. In that way we can take necessary action
to avoid danger whenever we see one. Road safety is very much up to how we use the roads.
Use them carefully and we may be able to use them for a long time. Use them carelessly and
we may never be able to use them again.

Road accidents have become very common due to the vehicle collisions and ignorance
of proper road safety measures. The number of death is increasing due to the motor vehicle
collisions by the people ignoring road safety rules. All the roads have been busier for full day
where vehicle are running in their high-speed. People in the modern world are being used to of
their personal transportation so there is more traffic on the roads than ever before. In such
condition, it needs people to follow traffic rules and road safety rules to practice safe driving in
careful manner. So that the road accidents can be reduced.
Each and every people must do defensive driving courses (under the guidance of
authorized instructor by any recognized driving school) before start driving on the roads. It is very
important for road safety purposes. Everyone must know the trick to handle serious situations
related to vehicles (how to operate vehicles) or themselves on the roads to save various
accidents and lives. Road safety measures should be added in the school as an important
subject so that students can get detail knowledge in their early age before driving. Most of the
road accidents cases happened because of improper knowledge about operating vehicles and
lack of proper road safety measures.
It is now becoming very unsafe to drive on the road day by day. Sometimes people use
their personal vehicles for long time without regular maintenance and servicing, so it is very
necessary to ensure vehicle’s proper working condition with timely service. It not only increases
the life of vehicles; reduces the number of accidents too. Driver should check the brake system
properly and well aware of the warning signs of failing brakes. There should always be first aid
box, emergency tools, sufficient gasoline, and proper functioning vehicle before going to the trip.
Road safety is very important for people of all age group to be safe and secure as well as
reduce the number of road accidents and injury cases. So, everyone should strictly follow all the
rules, regulations and signs of road traffic lights. Children should be well practiced from the end
of their parents at home and get proper study by the teacher in the school.
