Question 1:
In a project of evaluating city transportation, 150 people were interviewed and subcategorized to
the following groups:
● 84 live in a distance greater than 50 km from city center – group A
● 99 ride to work by private car – group B
● 85 are willing to use public transportation instead of their private car – group C
● 74 belong to groups A and B
● 63 belong to groups B and C
● 62 belong to groups A and C
● 54 belong to groups A, B, and C

We choose a person randomly

Question 3:
The chance of a student solving question 1 correctly is 0.9. For question 2 it’s 0.8. The chance for
solving both correctly is 0.75.
1. What is the chance for solving at least one question correctly?
2. What is the chance for solving no question correctly?
3. What is the chance for solving only question 1 correctly?
Solution:
1.
We’ll define the following events: A – solving question 1 correctly, B – solving question 2
correctly, – the student solves both correctly

2.

We’ll define the event - the student does not solve any question correctly.

3.
The chance to solve only question 1 correctly:
