21 Indispensable qualities of a leader
21 indispensable qualities of
a leader
A book authored by
John C. Maxwell
About Author
John Calvin Maxwell (born February
20, 1947) is an American author,
speaker, and pastor who has written
many books, primarily focusing on
leadership. Titles include The 21
Irrefutable Laws of Leadership and The
21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader.
His books have sold millions of copies,
with some on the New York Times Best
Seller List.
Quality:
Character
Here in this book author as taken Bill
Lear.

William Powell Lear (June 26, 1902 – May

14, 1978) was an American inventor and
businessman. He is best known for founding
Learjet, a manufacturer of business jets. He
also invented the battery eliminator for the B
battery, and developed the car radio and the
8-track cartridge, an audio tape
system.Throughout his career of 46 years,
Lear received over 140 patents.
In 1950 he started
manufacturing of Learjet and
the first jet was ready by 1963
and first jet was sold 1964.

He was successful in his

business but it was not for
every long
How a leader deals with the circumstances
of life tells you about his character.

Crisis doesn’t necessarily make character, but does reveal.

Quality:
Positive Attitude
Here in this book author
takes Thomas Edison as
example for this quality.
Narrating a tragedy which
took place in the life of
Edison.
This tragedy occurred when Edison
was in his late sixties.
The lab he built in West Orange, New
Jersey, was world famous. He called it
as invention factory. Its main building
was greater than three football fields in
size. Edison loved the pacle. But on
December 10th 1914, his beloved lab
caught fire.
If Edison hadn’t been such a positive person, he never would have
achieved such success as an inventor. If we look at the lives of people in
any profession who achieve lasting success, you will find that they almost
always possess a positive outlook on life.
Quality:
Listening
Here author takes the example of Oprah Winfrey.

Oprah Gail Winfrey (January 29, 1954) is an

American talk show host, television producer, actress,
author, and media proprietor. She is best known for her
talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, broadcast from
Chicago, which ran in national syndication for 25 years,
from 1986 to 2011. Dubbed the "Queen of All
Media",she was the richest African-American of the
20th century and was once the world's only black
billionaire. By 2007, she was often ranked as the most
influential woman in the world
An unwillingness to listen is too common among poor leaders. Peter
Drucker, the father of American management, believes that 60 percent of all
management problems are the result of faulty communications.

Before a leader can touch a person’s heart, he has to

know what’s in it.
Oprah says that
“Communicating with people is how I always developed any kind of
value about myself,”

Music star Madonna said about Oprah Winfrey,

“She Has been in the public eye for so long, yet she has this
amazing rapport with people. I don’t know how she does it.”

Passion
John Hampton "Papa John" Schnatter (born
November 22 or 23, 1961) is an American
entrepreneur who founded the Papa John's
pizza restaurant chain in 1984. Schnatter started
the business in the back of his father's tavern
after selling his car and using the proceeds to
purchase used restaurant equipment. As of
2017, his net worth was more than $1 billion
Schnatter founded Papa John's Pizza in 1984, when he converted a broom closet
in the back of his father's tavern. Schnatter sold his 1971 Z28 Camaro to
purchase $1,600 worth of used pizza equipment and began selling pizzas to the
tavern's customers. His pizzas proved sufficiently popular that a year later he
moved into an adjoining space. The company went public in 1993. A year later it
had 500 stores, and by 1997 it had opened 1,500 stores. In 2009, Schnatter
reacquired the Camaro after offering a reward of $250,000 for it.
Experts spend a lot of time trying to figure out what makes people
successful. They often look at people’s credentials, intelligence,
education, and other factors. But more than anything else, passion
makes the difference. David Sarnoff of RCA maintains that
“Nobody can be successful unless he loves his
work.”
Quality:
Vision
Here author takes the example of Walter Disney
Walter Elias Disney was an American animator, film
producer and entrepreneur. A pioneer of the American
animation industry, he introduced several
developments in the production of cartoons. As a film
producer, he holds the record for most Academy
Awards earned and nominations by an individual.
Vision is everything for a leader. Why? Because vision
leads the leader. It paints the target. It sparks and fuels
the fire within, and draws him forward. It is also the fire
lighter for others who follow that leader
