Fluoroscopy

DONE BY:MANAL AL OTIBI

Fluoroscopy is a medical procedure that
makes a real-time video of the movements
inside a part of the body by passing x-rays
through the body over a period of time. X-
rays are a form of ionizing radiation.

C-ARM O-ARM
A C-ARM MACHINE IS AN ADVANCED MEDICAL IMAGING DEVICE BASED ON X-
RAY TECHNOLOGY. THEY ARE PRIMARILY USED FOR FLUOROSCOPY
CAPABILITIES, ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE RADIOGRAPHY CAPABILITY TOO. C-ARM
IS CALLED SO, DUE TO ITS C-SHAPED ARM, WHICH IS USED TO CONNECT THE X-
RAY SOURCE ON ONE END AND THE DETECTOR ON THE OTHER.
C-ARM MACHINES ARE WIDELY USED DURING ORTHOPEDIC, UROLOGY,

C-ARM
GASTROENTEROLOGY SURGERIES, OTHER COMPLICATED SURGICAL
O-ARM

The O-arm is a portable imaging device with a C-shaped arm that fits over the
surgical table to take traditional two-dimensional X-ray images. During surgery it
works like a CT scanner to take three-dimensional images in real time. The O-
arm gives surgeons incredible three-dimensional views of spinal anatomy and
implant hardware, resulting in greatly improved accuracy and the ability to make
adjustments at the time of surgery.
Patient benefits associated with the O-arm include:
Safer, more accurate placement of spinal instruments for improved surgical
outcomes
Less time in surgery
Reduced risk of the need for follow-up surgery
Less radiation exposure from imaging
