Lotus Domino's Case Study
Client
• Our client is a defense establishment with more than 700 locations.
• They were doing a tech refresh for all their IT applications and decided to implement SAP for implementing the HR,
procurement and other processes.

Client Requirement
There were multiple requirements to customize the installation as per their needs like:
• Installing complete Domino environment on Linux platform,
• They want the chat services to be installed in environment.
• Integrate Sametime into their webmail,
• They need a centralized system of file sharing that can be used in any location they want,
• They need different permissions for different users in that centralized system.
• They want their naming convention should be customized, like every users can be identified their location by their Email.
• There was a requirement to route the outer Emails via Domino in form of alerts.

Client Challenges
Installing Domino on Linux can present some challenges due to the variety of Linux distributions and configurations available.
Some potential challenges include:

• Dependencies, Permissions, Linux distribution compatibility, Firewall and network settings, SELinux etc.

• To complete all the challenges we have gathered all the information before installing the Domino environment.

• Also, for the other requirements we made the solutions and provided to the client.

Solution

Verify System Requirements: Before installing Domino and same time, we ensured that the server meets the minimum
hardware and software requirements. Verify that the server is running a supported version of Linux Server, has sufficient RAM
and disk space, and meets other software requirements.

• Install Domino: We installed 2 Domino Cluster servers on RHEL platform.


• Install same time: We installed same time Server including all the components like:

• Installation Manager
• Websphere Application Server
• DB2 Enterprise Server
• Same time Proxy Server (for the integration with webmail)
• We created multiple policies like:

• Registration Policy
• Security Policy
• Desktop Policy
• Password Policy
• We customized their naming convention and added the location in users Email via Registration Policies.
• We integrated same time chat services in user’s webmail.
• We created Multiple Team Rooms as per client requirements with respected permissions for users.
• We allowed the servers to use Domino route Engine for the alerts as per the client requirements.
• We are still in the process to upgrade the Domino and same time Environments with the latest version releasing
and already working to resolve opened vulnerability Points in every quarter of the year.
