Abstract
WeprovideanupdatedchecklistofOrthopteraandtheiralliesforeachMaritimeprovinceofCanadawithdetailsfor21new
speciesrecords.Drumming Katydid(Meconema thalassinum), recordedfrom NovaScotia
(NS)
andPrinceEdward Island(PEI),
andSprinkledGrasshopper(Chloealtisconspersa),recordedfromNewBrunswick(NB)arereportedforthefirsttimefromthe
Maritimesasawhole.WereportrangeextensionsintheMaritimeregionforAustralianCockroach(Periplanetaaustralasiae;
NB),TreetopBushKatydid(Scudderiafasciata,NS),Short-leggedCamelCricket(Ceuthophilusbrevipes,PEI),SpottedCamel
Cricket(Ceuthophilusmaculatus,PEI),Roesel’sShield-backedKatydid(Roeselianaroesellii;NS),andBlack-hornedTree
Cricket(Oecanthusnigricornis,PEI).Short-wingedMoleCricket(Neoscapteriscusabbreviatus,NB)andEuropeanMole
Cricket(Gryllotalpagryllotalpa,NS)arereportedasadventives(non-nativespeciesthatarebelievedtobenotyetestab-
lished),newtoCanadafromtheMaritimes.OthernewrecordsforspeciesnotknowntobeestablishedareLinedEarwig
(Dorutaeniatum;,NS),AustralianCockroach(Periplanetaaustralasiae,PEI),AmericanCockroach(Periplanetaameri-
cana,NB),BrownCockroach(Periplanetabrunnea;,PEI),SmoothCockroach(Nyctiboralaevigata,NB),WestIndianLeaf
Cockroach(Blaberusdiscoidalis,NB),anunidentifiedParcoblattaspecies(NB),Brown-bandedCockroach(Supellalongi-
palpa;PEI),PrayingMantis(Mantisreligiosa;NB),andAmericanBirdGrasshopper(Schistocercaamericana;NS).
