Session Title: Cultural Sensitivity Uri ng Katarungan Gender Equality

Session Objectives: 1. Define cultural sensitivity.
2. Show respect to other people with
different cultures and values.
3. Perform different activities that show
cultural sensitivity.
Key Concept: Cultural Sensitivity is defined as being
aware that cultural differences and
similarities between people exist without
assigning them a value – positive or
negative, better or worse, right or wrong.
It is also referred to as cross-cultural
sensitivity or cultural awareness. It is
the knowledge, awareness, and
acceptance of other cultures and others'
cultural identities.

C. Concept
Cultural Sensitivity is also referred to as
cross-cultural sensitivity or cultural
awareness. It is the knowledge,
awareness, and acceptance of other
cultures and others' cultural identities.
Ways to demonstrate cultural
sensitivity:
1. Listen actively. It’s important to open
the doors of communication if others
want to share their thoughts and
experiences about their culture.
2. Be open-minded. By approaching
different cultures with a spirit of
curiosity and flexibility, you get to enjoy
new experiences.
3. Respect boundaries. Be mindful of
people's personal space, privacy, and
cultural practices.
4. Communicate clearly. Avoid using
expressions that may not be familiar to
others from different cultures.

and reproductive health (SRH),
as rigid and traditional gender roles
often dictate the terms in which
intimate relations, sexual activity

health outcomes and utilization of
reproductive, maternal, and child
health services amongst women are
significantly affected by gender social
norms, decision-making power, roles
and responsibility, and access to
resources.
