TYPES OF
CONFLICT
Man vs. Man

involves stories where characters are


against each other.
Man vs. Himself

a character battling inner demons,


one who has an inner moral conflict
or is simply striving to become a
better person.
Man vs. Society

When a novel sets a character against


a tradition, an institution, a law, or
some other societal construct,
Man vs. Religion

conflict between beliefs and religion


Man vs. Nature

This type of conflict counters a


character against some force of
nature, such as an animal or the
weather.
Man vs. God

the main character doesn't face off


against God per se but undergoes an
internal struggle in which his faith in
God or belief in holy works is
questioned
