Dreaming
bigger and better
Did you know that the Scarland we all know
and love isn’t the park’s first iteration? It’s
true! Our brilliant founder and lead engineer
was working on plans and prototypes for years
before ground was ever broken on Scarland’s
current site. In the hotel lobby, you can find
a model of the classic Scarland rollercoaster,
the very first Scarland ride!

Of course, there were plenty of setbacks over

the years. It isn’t easy to bring dreams to life,
you know! But with every up and down on the
track, our founder never stopped dreaming
bigger and better in his quest to make Scarland
the happiest place on Hermitcraft.

As the main artery carrying people around the park,
Main Street is always full of life! The street isn’t just
a wonderful introduction into Scarland- oh, no! It’s also
functional, containing just about anything you might
ever need on your Scarland adventure. While primarily
designed, of course, for foot- and trolley-traffic, we still
ensured the presence of sidewalks clearly separated by
hand-picked foliage and hand-crafted benches from the
road to make your Main Street meander as pleasant and
comfortable as possible.

These sidewalks are perfect for window-shopping or

taking a small break to absorb the sights and sounds,
while the roads are optimized for getting from point A
to point B, allowing guests to take everything at their
own pace. Additionally, locations meant for relaxing and
slowing down have their own side-streets. People can
come and go as they please in Scarland: it's a magical
place like that!

Guarded by a golden dragon perched on the rooftop (and
sometimes a lounging Jellie), the Scarland clothing store's
storefront is inspired by the elegant style of Second Empire
architecture, as well as the colorful Victorian Painted Ladies
you might find perched on their San Francisco hillside.

Hotel
You only get one first impression, so when
designing the Scarland Hotel, our engineers took
especial consideration regarding the ambiance and
opulence of the lobby: its hallways and staircases,
its chandeliers and check-in counters, its flooring
and upholstery.

Some of our inspirations were the Sun & Thirteen

Cantons in Soho, Great Central Pub at The
Landmark London, and Prince of Wales Hotel at
Niagara-on-the-Lake: all elegant and extravagant
beyond compare!

Queen Jellie has left her pawprints everywhere in
Scarland… even the restrooms!

Ensconced in the solid shell of a New England brownstone-

wheelchair-accessible and whimsically decorated as the
rest of the park. A great place to hide from your enemies!

The top of the theater gave us a bit more trouble, but we

J ellie’s Castle is Scarland’s most outstanding
landmark, waving you a stately welcome
from the horizon as you enter the park.
Beautifully framed by Main Street, it serves
as a focal point that accompanies you all
throughout your visit. As you approach
its gates, be amazed as your gaze wanders
across all its intricate details, ornaments, and
embellishments.

Our landscapers made sure this architectural

feat would reside in a setting worthy of
a queen. The rocky bridge, high cliffs,
tranquil waterfalls, sky-blue water, and
perfectly squared trees are the ideal
complement to the white walls and wide
windows.

Jellie's Castle is home to our most iconic

92 The Castl e
The Castle
The castle’s facade is right out of a storybook,
whisking you away to a realm of princesses and
dragons. Its architecture is a contemporary
approach to centuries-old Romanesque and
Gothic styles, complete with its own fantasy
spin.

Displaying a gradient's array of materials,

from stone brick, slate, and basalt at the
foundation, up tower walls and ramparts of
andesite, limestone and marble, to rose-quartz
cantera and finally piercing the sky with royal
blue tiled roofs and silver spires, Jellie's Castle
stands strong against the elements. Or, well,
that's what we want you to think! Our clever
engineers can do anything with fiberglass,
plastic, artisan work, and more than a little
imagination.

- Hoffen Inkghoul

(this spread) Hoffen Inkghoul | Digital

94 The C astle 95
Just like the Main Street bank, Jellie's Castle
makes use of the architectural trick called
forced perspective: the windows shorten as
the towers rise higher, tricking the ground-
level gaze into seeing a larger building than
is actually present. Sharp-eyed architects
may also note the ogival archivolt and stained
window at the entryway, intimidating keep
towers, and arrow-shaped and lombard-
trimmed parapets and battlements.

Other notable features include the north

wing's Dragon Realm coaster, the south wing's
Royal Restaurant, the sky bridge connecting
the northernmost tower to the main castle
as a trial for the brave, and our very own
founder's private quarters (look for the trefoil
windows!) on the top floor.

7 T he Cast,
Soul of Scarland
Kai Q.S. | Digital
S carland needs hundreds of helping hands to stay
tidy, safe, and magical each and every day! While our
costumed mascots are the stars of the show, Scarland
also employs chefs, janitors, trolley drivers, gardeners,
shopkeepers, tour guides, and more. Every employee plays
a pivotal role in making sure that every visitor has the best
visit possible!

Our cast members don't just keep the lights on and the
rosebushes proper. From punching tickets at the gates in the
morning to setting off fireworks at the end of the night, our
dedicated employees shape the guest experience in ways
both large and small.

There simply is no Scarland without our cast, and we pride

ourselves on providing a positive workplace environment
for every employee. Every prop and uniform was designed
by our engineers to be colorful, comfortable, and fun, and
all cast members have access to the same union-approved
benefits package, from our main characters to our janitorial
staff. It takes a kingdom to make magic happen, after all!

Jellie Whiskers
There’s nothing more precious to Scarland
than our Queen Jellie, and no more precious
cast members than our felicitous feline friends.

From daily pampering to on-site veterinary

facilities to individualized diets and care,
we make every effort to treat our kitty cast
members like the princesses they are. And
what’s a princess without her wardrobe?

Our purring performers’ pleasing apparel

is custom-crafted for cat comfort and
catastrophe. Anything that might catch on
scenery, guests, or human cast members is
designed to detach seamlessly under applied
pressure, via easy-detach collar clasps and
other measures, preventing injury to human
and animal alike. And did you know cats have
whiskers all over their bodies, not just their
faces? To keep our meowing mademoiselles
safe and happy, their costumes touch as little
of their bodies as possible, and avoid the ears
at all costs.

Our Queen Jellie is no puss in boots: she’s

a pampered prima donna, and she knows it!

Scar Goodtimes
Scar is the founder of the park, but did you
know he also loves meeting our guests and
showing them around? To make sure he always
looks his best, our costume designers helped
him put together a wardrobe that would both
show off his lively personality and be as bright
and welcoming as the smile on his face! With
suit jackets and matching vests in various
colors, our beloved founder is always more
than ready to greet our guests and look great in
photos. His pants and shoes were kept simpler
and in more neutral colors to achieve a look
that's both comfortable and professional.

When he's not greeting guests, he can be often

found working on various projects backstage.
So, because safety is our first priority here at
Scarland, he's also sporting one of our dazzling
Scarland reflective vests! And the look wouldn’t
be complete without a hard hat, so of course he
has his very own to ensure none of his creative
thoughts get knocked right out of that brilliant
head of his.

O ne of our top priorities at Scarland is making sure

park tickets get into the hands of as many eager
guests as possible, and our marketing team are the
geniuses behind this effort. We’re sure you’ve seen at

we'll invite you behind the scenes to check out a few of
our marketing methods.

Marketing isn't only how we let people know about

Scarland: it’s also how we invite visitors into our magical
world! By giving potential guests a taste of wonder,
they'll start wanting more. If you’ve ever been offered
a free taste test at the store, that's marketing! Whether
it’s tickets, posters, or special stamps, we do our utmost
best to create fun and consistent branding throughout
our marketing, with special focus on Queen Jellie and her
castle.

Expand, expand, expand! As the park expands, our

marketing has to follow. How else would people get their Mayloony | Digital

With Scarland expanding all the time, part of

our marketing department's job is making sure
every spectacle, event, and ride has its own

Conclusions
As the light of the fireworks fades from the
sky, as the crowds begin to disperse and as
the confetti is swept away, we hope you've had

our pleasure to bring it to you.
