Q1W1 MATH7 Learning Activity Sheet2
Mathematics 7
Quarter 2 Week 2
Lesson/Topic: Units of Length, Mass and Weight, Volume and Capacity, and Time
Competency: The learner solves problems involving length, mass, weight, volume, capacity and time.
Lesson Objective/s:
(1) Identify the length, mass, weight, volume, capacity and time.
(2) Solve the problem using area and perimeter
(3) apply in real life situation.
Key Concept
Units of Length
Changing One Metric Unit to Another
In changing one metric unit to another, you multiply or divide the number by multiples of ten
(10), or simply move the decimal of the number either to the left or to the right. To start with the conversion,
devise first a number line having the basic units of length arranged in a specific order (i.e., decreasing from left
to right).
Dekagram (dag) 10 g
Gram (g) 1g
Decigram (dg) 0.1 g
Centigram (cg) 0.01 g
Milligram (mg) 0.001 g
Units of Time
- The second is used as the standard unit of time. Clocks and calendars are tools for indicating time. The
two commonly used clocks are 12-hour and 24-hour clocks.
Conversion
1 minute 60 seconds
1 hour 60 minutes
1 day 24 hours
1 week 7 days
1 month 30 days
1 year 12 months = 365 days = 52 weeks
1 leap year 366 days
1 decade 10 years
1 score 20 years
1 century 100 years
1 millennium 1000 years
