Spring Holiday Speaking Project

Due: Thursday, March 21

For this project, groups of ~5 students will create a 10 minute presentation about a
spring festival or celebration from the Northern Hemisphere. The presentation must
include a visual, in this case a poster board, including pictures and graphics of your
celebration. The emphasis of this project is on speaking.

Groups of students will choose from the following Spring celebrations:


-Cherry Blossom Festival in Japan
-Passover
-Spring Equinox in Mexico
-Nowruz in Iran
-Las Fallas in Spain
-Cimburijada in Bosnia
-Chinese New Year
-Holi in India
-Baba Marta Day in Bulgaria
-Marzanna in Poland

Your presentation must include the following:


-At least 6 different images
-Date and duration of festival
-Key traditions and customs
-Significance and cultural importance
-Any fun facts
-Every group member should speak for roughly 2 minutes each and help explain an
element of the poster board.
-There should not be full paragraphs written on the poster board, but key facts that
students will elaborate on.

Each group should also have an interactive activity or game that relates to
their holiday.

Come prepared to ask and answer questions after each group’s presentation.
