Exclusion - The ending –es is added to verbs ending in –o, –y, –s, –sh, –ch, –tch, –
x, –z. This is done so that the word does not have two sounds that are difficult to
pronounce.
She does He teaches
She watches He mixes
Exclusion -You should pay attention to verbs ending in -y. After –y, 2 types of
endings are used:
If the word ends in a consonant and y, it is used ending es In this case, y changes to
-i:
I try
He tries
Negative sentence
In order to construct a negative sentence, we turn to the auxiliary verb do (does)
and the negative particle not. Here again separate from all of them will be the
pronouns he, she, it and nouns in the singular - the form does is used with them.
With other pronouns and do is used for nouns. We put the particle not between the
auxiliary verb and main.
Importantly - Note that when using does the ending s in the main
the verb disappears.
The auxiliary verb always "drags" s onto itself (do + es = does),
so we don't need to use this ending a second time.
When does ends, the s reappears in the main verb.
Interrogative sentence
The question also uses the auxiliary verb do (does). To ask a question in the
Present Simple, we put do (does) at the beginning of the sentence, then the
subject and at the end the main verb. Remember, as soon as does appears, the
ending –s (-es) in the main verb disappears.
There are several such auxiliary words: Always, often, usually, sometimes, every
day, rarely
I always commute by bus.
She walks in this park sometimes.
