TITLE 2021 SCHOOL-BASED VIRTUAL TRAINING-WORKSHOP ON THE
CONTEXTUALIZATION OF LEARNING RESOURCES IN READING
Rationale Reading is one of the most important skills that every learner
should possess for it is a portal to the world of knowledge and
opportunities. In this time of pandemic, reading absolutely plays a
vital role in the learning process in the different learning
modalities. DepEd Memorandum No. 173, s.2019 or known as the
“Hamon: Bawat Bata Bumabasa” intensifies the advocacy to
nurture the culture of reading among the learners which is a
requisite skill in all learning areas. This mandates the creation of
contextualized reading materials because as the learning delivery
changes, so as the learning resources, to suit the level and reading
capacity of every learner.
This is then a call for a professional development to update,
upskill and retool the teachers to create, innovate and
contextualized learning resources in reading. Such professional
development will equip educators with solid knowledge and
effective instruction using contextualized materials and strong
system that support the program implementation.

Program/Course This three-day activity tends to give helpful insights about
