RCC RESIDENTIAL BUILDING
BUILDING TYPE:
RCC building

CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL:
Plastered exterior finish

ORIENTETION:
South west facing

THRMAL INSULATION:
4-inch-thick concrete walls are used to partition each room and hallway along
with wooden doors and windows. The exterior walls are 9 inch thick for better thermal
insulation. West facing rooms are provided with bigger windows to receive proper
heating during winter. Balcony is provided in most rooms to allow for sunbathing during
winter. Bed rooms are faced in the south east direction to allow proper heating of room.
Truss structure is provided for shade in hot sunny climatic condition.

Thick concrete walls provide proper sound
insulation. Carpets on the floor help reduce reverberation for better acoustics. Enough
furnishing is present giving better sound absorption. Thick carpets are provided on the
floor to provide better sound characteristics.

LIGHTING:
East faced bedrooms allow for early morning sun light to enter the room. Energy
efficient LED lighting is provided in hallways and corridors where natural light scarcely
enters.

VENTILATIONS:
Enough doors and windows are present for allowing proper air movement to keep the
rooms fresh. Ventilations are provided in bathrooms for proper air circulations.

CONCLUSIONS:
In conclusion, this RCC structure has been optimized to allow proper air
circulation, lighting and sound insulation for safe, sound and comfortable
accommodation. It is well suited for every climatic condition and fulfills every functional
requirement of a RCC structure.
