CONSTRUCTION METHODOLOGY

Project Name: AMAIA Escapes VISMIN Single Home 60

A. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
a. The contractor will carry out all activities necessary to complete the project as per
contract requirements. The Site Engineer will be liaising with the head office and
will follow the guidelines set by the company management and will report the
project progress through the project manager/ management coordinator. The
contractor shall provide his workers, free of charge, personal protective equipment
for their eyes, head, hands, and safety belt or harness whenever necessary by reason
of the hazardous work as prescribed by the provisions of the Construction
Occupational Safety and Health. In order that the site can operate efficiently and
safely, site facilities are laid out properly to provide adequate welfare for workers.
The contractor shall provide the maintenance of essential equipment and supplies
that will be used on site.

B. SITE DEVELOPMENT
a. Layout – Batter boards are used to ensure the level and squareness of the house and
should be placed after the foundation lines. Nylon string is then used to indicate the
edges and corners of the foundation.
b. Excavation and Backfill – Excavation is carried out manually by means of pick
axes, crow bars and shovel. The soil is excavated 300mm surrounding the wall
footing and 80mm at the floor slab and shall be compacted properly. All appropriate
excavated materials must be used to create the structure's embarking and backfill.
c. Gravel bedding to SOG and wall footing - The contractor must compact the gravel
that was placed in the foundation and SOG's excavated area, and the engineer will
check to ensure that it is in accordance with the designs and specification.
d. Lot leveling – A level hose is used to provide accurate elevation in comparison
between multiple points like post or stakes so that the structure is even and correct
with the supervision of the site engineer.
C. FORMWORKS AND SHORING
 Formwork is designed to temporarily contain poured concrete and mould it to the
required dimensions and support the concrete until the concrete is able to support
itself. The materials used is should be clean and free of any debris to prduce smooth
and consistent texture on the concrete and it is composed of ordinary or
Phenolic/laminated plywood.
 Formwork and shoring should be designed by the engineer assigned and erected
according to the engineer’s drawings. Erect, support and brace the formwork and
shoring so it can withstand all loads and forces likely to be applied to it without
exceeding the allowable loads established by the engineer and without causing
uplifting, sliding, overturning or lateral displacement of the system. The engineer
should inspect the formwork and shoring before the concrete is poured. The
formwork and shoring should not be removed unless the concrete is strong enough
to support itself and any loads that may be applied to it or the concrete is adequately
reshored. Acquaint all the workers with the hazard and control measures associated
with their work and provide the information and instruction necessary to ensure
their health and safety. Enforce the workers with safety rules, programs and
procedures and the workers must be trained to use formwork and shoring including
erection and dismantling methods.

D. CONCRETE WORKS
 The Engineer shall ensure Concrete Grade / Class is approved by the Consultant /
Client, the following concrete grades shall consist of a mixture of Portland Cement
(Type-1), coarse aggregates, fine aggregates and water mixed in proportions
specified with a compressive strength shall be of 3000 PSI at 28 days. Formworks
shall be clean and free of any debris such as pieces of binding wires.

 Ready mix concrete supplier should be aware of the project specification


requirements. Sub-Contractors Engineer and Company/Contractor QCI shall
inspect each member prior to pouring of concrete. The exact method for placing
concrete shall be decided depending on accessibility of structural member on site.
Concrete shall be placed at each individual pour location dependent on access and
pour configuration either by: Direct discharge, Pumpcrete, or Chute.

 Concrete shall not be dropped from a height exceeding 1.5 meters and vibration of
concrete shall be thoroughly worked against the formwork and around the
reinforcement: successive layers shall be thoroughly bonded together during
vibration. Compaction of concrete shall be carried out by mechanical vibrator to
expel air bubbles dring the mixing and casting. Care shall be taken to avoid over
vibration which can cause segregation, surface laitance or leakage through
formworks.
E. REINFORCEMENTS
Grade and requirements of steel in accordance to specification and standard will be as
follows:
 To Wall footing shall be 10mm DB #GA40
 To Suspended Slab and Ledge shall be 12mm DB #GA40
 To Lintel Beams shall be 10mm DB #GA40
 To Bond Beams shall be 10mm DB #GA40
 To Corner and CHB Reinforcement shall be 10mm DB #GA40
 To Slab on Grade (SOG) shall be 6mm in diameter welded fabric

Based on the structural plan bending schedule, steel cutting and bending will be carried
out on site fabrication shop and will be delivered to site and assembled on site as per
approved IFC drawings. Reinforcement will be placed above ground not in touch of
soil, either using wooden blancks or coco lumber to comply with project specification
and international accepted procedure. Upon arrival of steel bar to site fabrication shop,
the rebar and fabrication crew will cut and bend rebar in accordance with project
specification and IFC drawings. Before placing the fabricated rebar inside the
formwork or mold, the formwork shall be clean and the rebars will be placed in
accordance to the project specification and IFC drawings. Reinforcement support shall
be properly assembled on site: non-metallic or concrete spacer shall be used to maintain
cover as required by the specifications.

F. MASONRY WORKS
 Ground floor Concrete Hollow Blocks walling dimensions shall be 150 mm x
200 mm x 400 mm with a compressive strength of 1000 PSI at 28 days, and
Second floor Concrete Hollow blocks walling dimension shall be 100 mm x 200
mm x 400 mm with a compressive strength of 1000 PSI.
 All masonry units will be delivered to site and will be stored in elevated
platform in dry location following the approved and desired specification of the
CHB. If stored in open place, top of stacks shall be covered with waterproof
sheeting secured tied.
 Mortar Mix should have a minimum cement to sand mix ratio of 1:3 with a
compressive strength of f’g = 13.8 Mpa or 3000 PSI and should be used within
30 minutes after mixing.
 Lay out walls for accurate spacing of surface bond patterns and for accurate
location of openings movement type joints, returns and offsets.
 Submitting Work Inspection Request to the consultant to get approval on the
first course, and courses shall be laid to comply with specified construction
schedule.
 Remove and replace masonry units that are loose, chipped and broken. Install
new units to match adjoining units with fresh mortar.
G. ROOFING WORKS
 Supply and installation of Roof framing shall consist of Structural steel rafters;
complete with hat type purlins span, (0.80mm thickness) with epoxy primer,
gray Hat type Purlins(.6mmxH45) at 6.0 m length per pc. Roofing materials
shall be of GA 24 pre-painted G.I. sheet long span rib-type sheet (Nippon Amaia
White).
 Roof materials will be safely lifted to the roof area and fall and fall protection
should be provided throughout the roofing works. For workers safety and to
provide access to the roof level, fixed scaffolding must be supplied. Before work
starts, all necessary materials must be brought to work location. Materials are
safely stacked on level ground inside site boundary.
 Materials for roof will be carefully lifted to the roof area. The materials moved
will be in accordance to the plan during lifting operation. To ensure that
everything is adequately secured to the roof, all materials should be carefully
examined by the engineer by looking for leaks, missing bolt, and gaps of roofing
materials.

H. WOODWORKS AND JOINERY


 The provision, fabrication, and installation of a modular kitchen cabinet with a
specific kitchen sink and faucet in accordance with the drawings and
specifications, as instructed and approved by the engineer.

I. METAL, WOOD, AND PLASTIC


 This work will involve providing, constructing, and installing structural steel
for the stairs. L50 x 100 x 3mm angle bar, L40 x 40 x 3mm angle bar, and 25mm
tubular steel railing will be used. The engineer will give instructions on where
to place and how to use the following materials in accordance with the plan.

J. DOORS AND HARDWORKS


 The engineer will give instructions on how to accomplish this job according to
the plan, which will involve providing and installing steel doors (Entry and Exit
doors) and PVC doors to all comfort rooms with all necessary accessories (door
hinges, door knobs).

K. ALUMINUM WINDOWS AND FRAMES


 According to the designs and requirements, this item must include the
furnishing and installation of aluminum windows with 6 mm thick clear glass
and an aluminum powder coated frame, and must be put in place in line with
the Plan's designated Level and Dimension or per the Engineer's instructions.
L. MOISTURE AND THERMAL CONTROL
 This component will include providing, installing, and applying water proofing.
To the toilet and bath, a slab of Portland Cement Concrete that can cure under
Humidity and the ability to adhere to wet surfaces in accordance with these
parameters according to the types and standards outlined in the blueprints, or as
instructed by Engineer.

M. FLOOR FINISHES
 This work shall include providing and installing 300mm x 300mm x 6mm
Unglazed Ceramic Tiles to all toilet and bath floor slabs in accordance with the
plans and specifications or the engineer's instructions. Tiles shall be laid level
or enough falls in wet areas as may be required. Particular care shall be taken in
wet areas to prevent low spot and pooling of water. The tiles shall be neatly cut,
grind rough on exposed edges around pipes & other obstructions. Make
provision of floor drains as per approved shop drawings.

N. WALL FINISHES
 Vitrified ceramic tiles measuring 300 mm by 300 mm by 6 mm must be
provided, installed, and placed on all toilet and bathroom interior walls, in
addition to smooth cement. Finish internal and external walls with plaster to the
specified thickness of 100 mm at concrete walls in accordance with plans and
specifications or as instructed by the engineer. Also, there will be finnishing.
according to the plans and specifications or as instructed by the supervisor,
fabrication and installation of an air conditioning hole cover (660mm x 440mm)
with silicone sealant on all perimeter openings and 4.5mm thick Ficem Board
temporary cover to match the exterior and interior painting finish metal framing.

O. PAINTING WORKS
 According to the plan and specification or as instructed by the engineer, this
item entails providing and applying the necessary type and color of paint.
Interior and exterior walls must be properly coated and primed before the first
coat of flat paint is applied.
 This is followed by the application of the last two coats of flat paint and one
coat of semi-gloss.
 In line with the design and specification or as instructed by the engineer, this
item also comprises the supply and application of the necessary paint to the
main and service doors. Elastomeric paint is supplied and applied to the
building's left and right firewalls in accordance with the plan or the engineer's
instructions.
 Additionally, it was necessary to paint the ceiling eaves, fascia boards, and all
stair elements in accordance with the plan, specification, or engineer's
instructions.
P. ELECTRICAL WORKS
 This work will include providing and installing all necessary conductors and
cables to finish the electrical installation and provide the essential accessories
as described in the specification and shown on the designs to get the system up
and running.
 As specified on the designs and specifications, this item also requires the
provision and installation of conduits complete with support, fitting, pullwire,
couplings, connections, and other essential accessories.
 In order to make the system operational, it is also necessary to supply and install
wiring devices and lighting luminaries, complete with testing and
commissioning, supports, fixation, adapters, boxes, and other necessary
accessories. All required work and procedures must also be carried out in
accordance with the Electrical Code of the Philippines.

Q. PLUMBING WORKS
 The work must include furnishing, providing, and installing Basic Plumbing
tools and techniques. All Soil Pipe PVC Direct Connecting the Tank Digestive
Chamber is supplied and installed. The main 100mm PVC pipe must be
connected to all kitchen and bathroom soil pipes by a PVC rcduccr, and a 50rnm
PVC vent must be installed through the roof. Utilize a levelling instrument to
make depth markings up and down the length of the excavation. In specific
circumstances, it may not be down to earth to utilize a levelling instrument in a
pipes or sewerage installation. In such cases, a tube level could be utilized.
 According to the required design and specification, the COLD WATER LINE
must be 20mm Sub-supply pipe for the bathroom and kitchen, and 25mm Main
and Supply Pipe PPR for the main and supply lines. Additionally, all soil pipes
must be 1000 series PVC (polyvinyl chloride) pipes. This item must comply
with the requirements set forth in the Philippine Plumbing Code for standard
works and practices.
