Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to
each of the questions.
Here's a familiar scene: It's the day before an important exam, but you have not studied a thing for some reason
and only sit down to review at around 10 p.m. This is what's known as cramming. And while it may help you remember
some information in the short term, cramming for an exam may not be a very smart thing to do.
Cramming certainly doesn't bring feelings of confidence and relaxation. It's stressful: you look at the mountain of
books and material before you, and you realize just how far behind you are, and you panic. It also contributes
significantly to testing anxiety, which can make you perform more poorly on the test. Stress can also reduce your ability
to concentrate and to absorb the information.
You need to be exposed to information multiple times before you begin to remember it, so cramming the night
before a test isn't going to help you because you won't remember the information. You are guaranteed to forget the
information within a day or two, or perhaps even during the next morning. Not only does that mean you won't do as well
on the test, but you also won't remember the information for later in the class, such as on a future test or end-of-year
exam.
Getting a good night‟s sleep is also key in doing well on your exams, ensuring that you wake up feeling fresh and
confident when stepping into the exam room. Cramming into the early hours of the morning will leave you feeling terribly
tired, and it will be more difficult to concentrate, especially when you‟re under pressure to remember all the information
you attempted to cram into your head the night before.

B. It directly leads to poorer test performance.
C. It makes you more anxious when taking a test.
D. It shuts down your ability to absorb information.
Question 34: The word “fresh” in paragraph 4 is closest in meaning to __________.

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to
each of the questions.
In science fiction films about space exploration, it's common to see computers on spaceship having the ability to
talk to astronauts in a conversational, human-like way. Now, NASA engineers say they are developing their own
ChatGPT-style interface that could ultimately allow astronauts or mission controllers to talk to spacecraft and AI-powered
robots exploring distant planets.
“The idea is to get to a point where we have conversational interactions with space vehicles and they are also
talking back to us on alerts, interesting findings they see in the solar system and beyond,” Dr Larissa Suzuki, a visiting
researcher at Nasa said. Speaking at a meeting on next-generation space communication, Suzuki propounded her ideas of
an interplanetary communications network with inbuilt AI to detect, and possibly fix, glitches and inefficiencies as they
occur. “We cannot send an engineer up in space whenever a space vehicle goes offline or its software breaks somehow.”
The system also has a natural language interface that will allow astronauts to talk to the onboard computers rather
than spending time to peruse technical manuals to find relevant pieces of information. She also envisages them being
able to seek advice on space experiments or on how to perform complex manoeuvres. Additionally, Suzuki is
investigating how to deploy machine learning in space, where it is not possible to run vast amounts of data through
supercomputers. She describes how an approach called federated learning could allow a fleet of robotic rovers, exploring
a distant planet, to share knowledge, meaning they can continue to learn without sending data back to Earth. “The
spacecraft do collaborative updates based on what‟s seen by other spacecraft,” she said.
Suzuki also features in a new gallery, Engineers, which opened at the Science Museum in London on Friday. The
gallery highlights technology ranging from space satellites and surgical robots to digital fashion, and aims to challenge
misconceptions around what engineers do and who they are. She hopes the Science Museum gallery will highlight the vast
range of technologies that engineers design, build and fix to bring positive change in the world, which will inspire more
people, especially girls, to pursue technical careers.
