SCIENCE

Joseph Ejercito Estrada, a former President of the Philippines, primarily focused

on politics and governance during his tenure. While he served as President from
1998 to 2001, his contributions were mainly in the realm of public policy and
national administration rather than science. Therefore, there are no significant
scientific contributions associated with Joseph Ejercito Estrada's political career.

TECHNOLOGY

Joseph Estrada served as the 13th President of the Philippines from 1998 to 2001.
During his administration, there were some notable developments in
technology:

Internet Expansion: The internet saw increased accessibility and usage during his
tenure. More Filipinos gained access to the World Wide Web, and internet cafes
became popular, facilitating greater connectivity. Y2K

Preparedness: The government, including the Department of Science and

Technology (DOST), worked on Y2K readiness to ensure that computer systems
would not malfunction when the year 2000 arrived, preventing potential
technological disruptions.

E-Government Initiatives: The Estrada administration began laying the

groundwork for e-government initiatives, which aimed to make government
services more accessible online, although these initiatives saw more significant
progress in subsequent administrations.

Telecommunications Growth: The telecommunications sector continued to

grow, with an expansion of mobile phone usage and improvements in
telecommunication infrastructure.

It's important to note that technological advancements during this period were
relatively modest compared to subsequent administrations, and Estrada's
presidency was primarily marked by political and social issues. The more
significant strides in technology and digitalization of government services
occurred in the years following his presidency.

EZDUCATION

Education for All (EFA) 2015 - Estrada's administration continued the Philippine
government's commitment to the Education for All (EFA) initiative, which aimed
to provide universal access to quality education by 2015. This initiative focused
on improving access to education, reducing dropout rates, and enhancing the
quality of education.

Salary increase for teachers - President Estrada's administration implemented

salary increases for public school teachers. This move was intended to attract
and retain qualified educators in the public school system, thereby improving
the overall quality of education.

Textbook Program - The government under Estrada also worked on providing

free textbooks to public school students. This initiative aimed to reduce the
financial burden on parents and increase access to learning materials.
