REPORT FOR REHABILITATION AND RENOVATION TO THE ALL-AROUND

OPERATING PLATFORM OF PH I TUNNEL ENTRY HOIST OF SHOLAYAR DAM

AT SHOLAYAR NAGAR

ESTIMATE AMOUNT Rs: 24,85,000

The Parambikulam Aliyar Project (PAP) is a multipurpose and interstate river valley
project, which is an outcome of a hard and sustained work done by a band of enthusiastic and
dynamic Engineers, to divert the west flowing rivers and conveyance to the East side with the
series of Reservoirs, tunnels and conveyance media mainly to provide irrigation facilities to
the drought prone areas in Coimbatore, Erode and Tirupur Districts. In addition to irrigation
supply, the project contemplates generation of hydro power both in Tamil Nadu and Kerala
states and stabilization of existing irrigation systems.
SHOLAYAR DAM:
The Sholayar Reservoir, which is essentially a part of the comprehensive
Parambikulam Aliyar Project, act as a Heart of this project and benefits both Kerala and
Tamilnadu States.
The approach road leading to PH 1 Urulikkal Tunnel and Operating arragement at
Urulikkal is being maintained by Tunnel section, Sholayar Dam Sub Division, Sholayar
Nagar.
The PH I Tunnel Entry Urulikkal is equipped with hoisting arrangements for operating
Service and emergency gate through which water will be discharged to Power House I
Manampalli for power generation and after the water discharges to Parambikulam Dam.
The PH I Urulikkal tunnel entry road which is of 550.00 m in length and it is
necessary for operating the Intake shutter when ever need arises. Around the operating
witness’s rampant growth of jungle and it is not paved. Due to not paving around the
operating platform and it is leading approach road, the movement of vehicles over the road is
a very difficult task especially at the time of flood .If it is not paved, approaching PH I tunnel
Intake Shutter at the firm of requirement will be a difficult task.
Therefore, the paving and providing drain facilities around operating platform and its
approach to the PH I entry is very essential to maintain the area for better vehicular
movement and operating the shutters in timely without any hindrance during monsoon time
 This estimate comprises of the following items of work
1. Earthwork Excavation for drainage
2. Provision for Picking the Existing metalled surface
3. Plain Cement Concrete 1:3:6.
4. Plain Cement Concrete M15
5. Supplying and erecting centering for road sides and drainage
6. Supplying and fabricating ribbed tor steel reinforcement for dowel bars.
7. Supplying and fixing 12mm thickness bitumen pad.
8. Providing and laying cement concrete M30.

The above provisions that have been made in this estimate are absolutely necessary to
up keep the Operating platform of PH I Entry in good condition for which the better operation
of shutter.
This estimate is prepared based on the current schedule of rates for the year 2022-23
and works out to Rs.24,85,000. Necessary approval sanction may please be given for the
proposal.
