MANUFACTURING OF TABLET STRIPS USINGBANANA PSEUDO STEM FIBER
FIELD OF INVENTION
‘Materials science, specifically the development of biodegradable and sustainable
materials for packaging applications, is the field of invention for a banana pscudostem fibre
tablet strip. The use of banana pseudostem fibre in tablet strip packaging aims to provide an
alternative to traditional synthetic materials while lowering environmental impact and
improving packaging sustainability. Research into the properties and processing of banana
pseudostem fibre is also being conducted to ensure its suitability for use in tablet strip
packaging, as well as its compatibility with various printing and processing techniques.
INTRODUCTION,
Plastic medical waste from petroleum-based sources continues to accumulate in
landfills and leach into the environment. Normally aluminium foils, cellophane,
polyethylene, are used in the manufacturing of tablet strips. Switching to biodegradable
plastics can help to alleviate the problem. The Banana fiber packaging material is anticipated
to play a significant role in upholding the benefits of conventional plastics, such as their
excellent barrier qualities, food safety, and shelf life and their ability to maintain flavours,
colours, and aroma, Polymeric materials are now used in almost all applications due to their
uunique properties such as light weight, self-lubrication, and low noise. Natural fibres are
superior to synthetic fibres because they are renewable, environmentally friendly, low in
density, biodegradable, and less abrasive. The increased awareness of environmental issues
has accelerated the use of renewable resources such as plant fibre as a reinforced material in
polymer composites. However, there are significant compatibility issues between the fibre
and the matrix due to weaknesses in the natural fiber's interfacial adhesion with synthetic
matrices. Tablet strips are thin strips of paper or plastic that contain multiple tablets or
capsules. They are used to package and dispense medications, vitamins, and supplements
Tablet strips are designed to make it easier to take multiple medications at once, as well as to
keep track of when medications have been taken, They are also used to help ensure that
medications are taken correctly and on time. Tablet strips are often used in hospitals,
pharmacies, and other healthcare settings. Tablet strips are typically made from a variety of
materials, including paper, plastic, metal, and foil. The type of material used depends on the
application and the desired properties of the strip. Paper strips are often used for packaging

and labeling, while plastic strips are often used for medical and pharmaceutical applications.
Metal and foil strips are often used for security and tamper- evident applications.
It is important to note that natural fibres like jute, coir, banana, and sisal, among
others, are abundantly accessible in developing countries like India, Sri Lanka, and some of
the African countries; nevertheless, these natural fibres are not being utilised to their full
potential. At the moment, these fibres are put to use in the traditional method for the purpose
of fabricating yams, ropes, and mats, in addition to items such as wall hangings, table mats,
handbags, ‘and purses. In addition to their employment in the paper business, a variety of
natural fibres, including cotton, banana, and pineapple, are also pist to use in the textile
industry. It is common knowledge that the banana tree is one of the oldest plant species that
has been cultivated anywhere in the globe. The world’s tropical and subtropical regions are
responsible for producing around 70 million metric tonnes of bananas on an annual basis. The
greatest producer of bananas in the World, India is responsible for 27% of totat global banana
production, The state of Tamil Nadu is the most productive producer of bananas in India.
BACKGROUND WORK
The background research on using banana pseudostem fibre as a replacement for
existing materials in tablet strip packaging is focused on the sustainability and environmental
impact of packaging production, Plastic and aluminium, which are used in tablet strip
packaging, can take hundreds of years to degrade in the environment and contribute to
pollution. The use of banana pseudostem fibre in tablet strip packaging provides a
biodegradable and renewable alternative, lowering the environmental impact of packaging
manufacturing and disposal. The goal of this research has been to improve the properties of
banana pseudostem fibre for use in tablet strip packaging, such as its strength, durability, and
resistance to moisture and other environmental factors. Furthermore, efforts are underway to
improve the processing and refining of banana. pseudostem fibre, as well as to ensure its
compatibility with various printing and processing techniques. The purpose of this study is to
create a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional synthetic materi
used in tablet strip packaging.
‘New and cost-effective options for applications involving household furniture can be
made from composite materials reinforced with banana fibre, Banana fibre is often utilised to
make the composite material that is used in constructing boards and fire-resistant boards.
Paper can also be made from banana fibre due to the fact that it has a very long shelf life.

Because banand fibre has the potential to be utilised as an efficient reinforcing composite, it
has drawn a lot of interest in the field of polymer composite materials. The composites have a
wide variety of high-end application potential uses, including medicinal, packaging materials,
electrical electronic components, aesthetic interiors in infrastructure design, locomotive and
vehicle interiors and components. In the automiotive sector; it is utilised in the process of
producing door panels, headliner, dashboards, and other interior insulations.
When compared to traditional synthetic fibres, banana fibres have a number of
advantages, including biodegradability, low cost, relieve of secession, renewability, reduction
tool wear, environmental protection, low density, acceptable specific strength, quasi to the
skin, and boost energy recovery.

packaging can provide economic: benefits to banana-growing communities by
providing a new use for a harvest byproduct.
Overall, the use of banana pseudostem fibre in tablet strip packaging provides an
environmentally, culturally, and economically beneficial alternative to traditional synthetic
materials
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
The following steps are detaile
the invention of making fibre tablet strips from
the stalk of
banana pseudostem. The first step is to harvest the banana pseudostem, whic!
the banana plant. The harvested pseudostem is then processed to separate the fibre from the
plant's other parts. Washing, cutting, and drying the pseudostem is'usually followed by
beating or grinding it to separate the fibre.
+ Refining: After the fibre has been processed,
is refined to remove any impurities
and improve its overall quality. Washing and brushing the fibre, as well as removing
any short or weak fibres, may be required.
+ Spinning: The refined fibre is spun into yam or thread, which is then used to create
the tablet strip.
+ Weaving: The yam or thread is then woven into a fabric or mesh, which serves as the
tablet strip's base material.
+ Finishing: After weaving, the fabric is finished to improve its strength, durability, and
appearance. This could include treating the fabric with resin or wax to improve its
moisture resistance, as well as printing or coating it to achieve the desired look.
+ Cutting and shaping: The finished fabric is cut to the size and shape required for
tablet strip packaging.
