PRE-PLANNER
A guide to preparing
for the new year
THEDASHPLANNER.COM
Hello 2024!
If you are reading this, that means you made it through another year. I want to acknowledge
the fact that you are here right now with the intention of getting a fresh start and are given
an opportunity to take control (of what you can). Hats off to you!
The following pages are designed to help you reflect on what has worked well and not so well
this past year. Gaining clear insight on this can help you make more informed decision for the
year ahead. This workbook is designed to help you brainstorm about how you want to spend
your time and do so in a way that feels purposeful. If you find that certain sections don’t
resonate with you, simply skip them and focus on the ones that do.
By filling out this pre-planner, you will hopefully have an idea of what’s in store for you in
the new year and get you excited in the process. Once this workbook is complete, you will
have dates and activities that you can then transfer to your yearly, monthly, weekly, or daily
planner. Hopefully this will help with that new “blank planner” shock too!
You can use this guide digitally on your device with your go-to note taking app. If your
planner for 2024 is digital too, you can even select and copy what you wrote here and easily
paste it into your digital planner. I recommend grabbing your beverage of choice, put on
some music in the background, and find a comfy spot to spend some time focused on you.

Less of That THE NOT-SO-POSITIVES
Now that you’ve identified what you want more of in your life, let’s make room some room by doing less of what
we don’t want anymore. Use these prompts below to list what you’d like to stop doing and brainstorm about
what you can do instead. Remember: these are not failures; they are ways you gathered useful information.
Something that wasted my time and energy: Instead, I want to spend my resources on...
Something that caused me distress: I can claim my control over this by...

You did it!
You now have a blueprint and some direction of how you’d like your next year to go.
I recommend grabbing your 2024 planner or calendar and filling in all the dates and
activities you listed out on the previous pages. If you have a Dash Planner, you can use
the included page templates like the Goal Planner, Habit Tracker, and Routine Planner
to help breakdown the priorities you uncovered in this workbook.
If you don’t have a planner yet, you can download our free digital planner that contains
monthly calendars and overview pages to get started planning out the new year.
Remember: nothing is concrete and plans can change in the blink of an eye. However,
it can be helpful to have an idea of where your time and energy is going. Control your
schedule so that your schedule doesn’t control you.
I hope you found this new year pre-planner helpful! I’d also love for you to share this
guide with any family or friends who could benefit from gaining clarity in the new year.
