What is an image?
An image is a picture created or copied from and stored in digital form. The image comprises of a rectangular
arrangement of dots know as pixels. The measurements of image’s dimensions are in pixels and expressed as a

What is a pixel?
A digital image is not a single entity that cannot be divided. When you zoom in you will notice that your image
forms up of tiny tiles know as pixels.
The common image formats
There are two formats of image which are Raster and Vector
Raster Vs Vector
Best for photography Best for logos and designs
Large file size Small file size
Its pixel-based Its mathematical line
Examples( JPEG,GIF,PNG) Examples(SVG,PDF,ESP)
What do these formats stand for?
Raster Format
1. GIF – stands for Graphics Interchange Format.
2. JPEG – Stands for Join Photographic Expert Group
3. PNG – stands for Portable Network Graphics
Vector Format
1. PDF – stands for Portable Document Format
2. EPS – stands for Encapsulated Post Script
3. SVG – stands for Scalable Vector Graphics
Resolution

pixels which that make up your image example when you capturing image you can choose 13.5
megabyte resolution which is high quality resolution. If you choose 13.5 megabyte resolution when
you taking photos your image will consist of 4,500 pixels as horizontal and 3,000 pixel as vertical.
Digital image processing
WHAT IS DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING?
Digital Image Processing(DIP) Is describe as the transformation of distorted images to high quality
images that aids individuals in detecting silent components of the image without difficult for Image
analysis.
ATTRIBUTES THAT CAN BE ALTERED DURING DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING
1. Reduce image noise
2. Increase amount of details seen
3. Adjust the contrast image properties
MOST MEDICAL IMAGING METHODS EMPLOY SOME FORM OF DIP
EXAMPLE
1. Gamma Rays – is use in medical to find tumors & infections in human body
2. X-Rays – it’s used mainly in medical diagnostics
3. Ultravoilet Rays – UV is a radiation utilized for dental treatment like fight bacteria in the tooth.
