INDEFINITE TENSES

 Present Indefinite Tense


Present indefinite tense is a grammatical tense that is used to describe actions or situations that
are happening now or regularly occurring in the present time.

 Formula:
 For affirmative sentences: Subject + first form of verb + object.
 For negative sentences: Subject + do/does + not + first form of verb + object.
 For interrogative sentences: Do/does + subject + first form of verb + object + ?.
 For third-person singular subjects (he, she, it), add an -s or -es to the end of regular
verbs.

 Examples:
 He likes coffee. (affirmative)
 He does not like coffee. (negative)
 Does he like coffee? (interrogative)

 Past Indefinite Tense


Past indefinite tense is used to express a completed action or a past habit that happened at a
specific time in the past.

 Formula:
 For affirmative sentences: Subject + second form of verb + object.
 For negative sentences: Subject + did + not + first form of verb + object.
 For interrogative sentences: Did + subject + first form of verb + object + ?
 For irregular verbs: The second form of verb is different from the first form. For
example, “go” becomes “went”, and “eat” becomes “ate”.
 For regular verbs: The second form of verb is the same as the first form with -ed
added. For example, “play” becomes “played”, and “work” becomes “worked”.

 Examples:
 He liked coffee. (affirmative)
 He did not like coffee. (negative)
 Did he like coffee? (interrogative)
 Future Indefinite Tense
The Future Indefinite Tense is a verb tense that is used to express an action or event that will
happen in the future. It is also called the Simple Future Tense.

 Formula:
 For affirmative sentences: Subject + will + Verb (base form) + Object.
 For negative sentences: Subject + will not / won't + Verb (base form) + Object.
 For interrogative sentences: Will + Subject + Verb (base form) + Object + ?.

 Examples:
 He will like coffee. (affirmative)
 He will not like coffee. (negative)
 Will he like coffee? (interrogative)
