KH711 KILN COMPACT USER MANUAL

DO NOT USE BEFORE READING THESE INSTRUCTIONS BE AWARE THAT we test each kiln BEFORE we send it to our customers. INTRODUCTION: THE KH711 KILN COMPACT WITH SECURE SWITCH is a very useful compact kiln. It is very simple to use and especially designed to work with metals, some precious metal clays (PMC) with a firing temperature of around 850C (1562F), fusing glass and enamels. The maximum working temperature is between 850 C / 900C (1562F / 1652F). The kiln has a secure switch under the door that automatically disconnects from the power supply when the kilns door is opened. 90% of the heating process takes less than 1 hour (usually 40-60 minutes). Please never heat the kiln continuously for more than 1.5 hours (90 minutes).

PREPARING THE KILN FOR FIRST USE: IMPORTANT: For first time use please heat the kiln for approximately 3-5 minutes to allow water to evaporate from the chamber and from the inside of the furnace. NOTE: there is a strong risk of causing damage (small cracks) to the chamber if the preparation does not take place. Allow the furnace to cool down before you start work. If the furnace is to be used less than once per month repeat the process each time before the furnace is used. 1. Remove the kiln from its original packaging. 2. To switch the kiln On connect the kilns plug to a power supply. 3. To open the door push down the red handle with the toggle clamp. When the door is opened a click will let you know that the machine is automatically disconnected from the power supply. 4. To shut the door, hold the red handle and push the toggle clamp upwards. The red handle should be put back in its vertical position. As the door is shut, a click will let you know that the switch has automatically connected back to the power supply. 5. To switch the kiln OFF disconnect the plug from its power supply.

HEALTH AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:

Please always make sure that the door is closed properly. Be aware that the kiln has a secure switch under the door that disconnects the kiln from its power supply in the case that the door is opened. Do not pick up the kiln by the red handle Do not leave it to cool down with the door open. The kiln should be positioned on a level surface that will not be damaged by heat. A masonry or concrete floor is recommended, but other protective material like metal or ceramic top may be used. Always use heat resistant gloves and metal steel tweezers to remove firing objects from the kiln (available on http://www.kilnhobbies.co.uk The kiln should be kept away from all inflammable materials such as curtains, shredded paper etc. NEVER leave the kiln unattended as it can reach very high temperatures Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Make sure that the door is closed properly to speed up the heating process and to enable it to reach the highest possible temperature inside the chamber. 90% of the heating process takes less then 1 hour (usually 40-60 minutes). Never heat the kiln for more than 1.5 hours (90 minutes) continuously. If the kiln is not in use please disconnect it from the power supply immediately.
