READING
AND
DEVOTIONAL
WildernessWay
T hank you
Thank you for allowing Suzy Bzz to be a resource for your child or children’s Bible
Reading and devotional.
As your littles travel through the wilderness experience with Moses and the
Israelites I pray that they will grow in their understanding and faith in God. He is
loving absolutely, but He also is a just God and He brings judgement. We do live
under grace - which God gives to us to give us the strength to live this life out
according to His standard. I know with our humanistic time that is not “religiously
or politically correct.” But it is Who our God is, He never changes. He is not a God
just lurking about ready to judge us, that is why He sent Jesus to give us love,
forgiveness, grace, and faith.
Years ago when teaching Moses and the Manna, the Lord gave me an illustrated
sermon for my kids. We spread out a cloth and had them pretend to lie down and
sleep, I poured out Frosted Flakes and they were to gather a handful, no more.
Some obeyed, some did not. Those that gathered more had to throw their extra
away. Maybe you as a parent could nd a way to bring this lesson into your home.
Remember, the bread from heaven was sweet and tasted like honey - Frosted
Flakes reminded me of what the Bible describes.
During this month your littles will also be reading and learning about the 10
Commandments or which I call the 10 DONOTS - this also were fun Bible lessons
the Lord gave me for our kids at children’s church. I hope your littles enjoy!

UNLEAVENED BREAD
Read: Exodus 12:13-28
The Passover was such an important event, God did not want the Israelites to ever forget or take it lightly. There is so
much, but as you grow and as you read these verses again and again throughout your life, I pray God will open your
understanding to see the meaning of “unleavened bread.” But for now, putting leaven into bread was to make it soft and
thick. Without leaven it is flat and crunchy. It is not as enjoyable as leaven bread. God was telling them, this unleavened
bread, I God the Great I Am did not enjoy these plagues, it cost lives and blood of a lamb to protect you. Don’t take it lightly. Don’t think of
it as enjoyable even though I spared your lives by the blood on your doors. Someday, the lamb that would be slain will be My Son. This
unleavened bread comes with some pretty severe consequences: God is love, so to give all those plagues, and then the last that brought
death, it was not joyful for God at all. He dreaded having to resort to such measures because of the hardness of hearts, sin, and unbelief.
2. The first day there shall be a “holy convocation” which means a “holy assembly.”
3. It is a day of rest - no work, but eat. Prepare food for this day
4. This shall be a “Feast” of Unleavened bread. A feast means an abundance of food, fruits, and unleavened bread - a party.
5. Vs 17 - God says, “for on this same day I will have brought your armies out of Egypt.” (God declares how He sees us and who we really
are. They were slaves, but God sees them as “armies” “warriors” “soldiers” ready to conquer).
6. For 7 days no leavened bread, and if any leaven is even found in your house, that person or family will be cut off from the congregation.
7. You shall eat nothing leavened; in ALL your dwellings you shall eat unleavened bread.
God gives commands and He expects them to be obeyed completely.. God gives commands, but He then gives us the choice to obey and do
what He said completely. Or not obey at all. Or do it only half way.
What is the consequence for not obeying completely? Because not eating unleavened bread but having it in your house GOD considers
disobedience.
FIRE BY NIGHT
CLOUD BY DAY
Read: Exodus 13:17-22
Moses, Aaron and all the Israelites are leaving Egypt. Why we
God leads Moses and the Israelites, not the shorter way
- but the way He knows they can handle at this time.
There are so many things to learn about God and our
new faith in Him when we become born again.
The Israelites, had been slaves all their lives, this is all they
knew. Their parents, and grandparents for 430 years they were slaves. They had never owned
anything, nor could they do what they wanted - they did not know freedom. They only knew
how to be slaves.
When we become born again, all we know is how to be slaves to sin. God knows how to lead us
and which way we are to go, to learn how to be free from sin, sickness, poverty, lack, fear of
people. Only God knows. We must listen, obey, and follow HIM.
He gave the Israelites - a cloud by day and re by night. So they would know that He was with
them. God has done no less for us on this journey of life, in fact our New Covenant is greater
the Bible says. Jesus, the Word of God is our “light” and The Great Holy Spirit is our “ re” given
to us to give us the power and authority we need to live “by faith.” Just as God gave them
Moses to lead them, God gives you Preachers of Righteousness, we call them “Pastor.”

Go This Way To the Sea
Read: Exodus 14:1-4, 5-9,
10-20
God could have lead Moses and the Israelites out of Egypt, and lead them the fastest route. But He
led them towards the sea. When Pharaoh hears the direction they were headed he thought “They
don’t even know where they are going!” The way they are headed is a dead end.
God knows exactly what He is doing. This is a great lesson to learn. Man and their knowledge is
limited. We serve a limitless God. Moses and the Israelites are headed for a dead end, but God has a
plan to show Himself once again to Pharaoh and the Egyptians, the Israelites, and the world. For all
that God has already done with the plagues has gone to other places and nations, wait until they
hear how God delivers His people out of a dead end!
What God did in Egypt and to the Egyptians has gone around the world even today, movies of the
Red Sea, go to Universal Studios they even have or had an attraction that told about the Red Sea
parting. OUR GOD IS MAGNIFICENT!
Highlight this verse in your Bible. Memorize this verse. This needs to become
your life way of following Jesus! Don’t be afraid. Stand still and you will see
the salvation of the Lord! Run to your Bible and get that Word of God, and
then stand on that Word and watch the salvation of the Lord.

LET’S LOOK AT VERSE 15 AGAIN: THE LORD SAID TO MOSES, “WHY
DO YOU CRY TO ME? TELL THE CHILDREN TO GO FORWARD.”
Moses stretches out his hand with the rod, and a great wind comes so strong and
great that the waters are pushed back to make walls, and instantly the bottom of the
sea is open and the sand is dr y so all the 600 plus women and children, cattle, sheep,
wagons, can cross on dr y ground.

redeemed.
Moses started praising, but by the end all the multitudes were praising
and Marian and the women were dancing unto the Lord.

READ Exodus 15:1-21
When we praise the Lord, we cause others to join in with us. So be loud
in your praise, meaning don’t be ashamed to open your mouth, lift
your hands, dance and praise the Lord.
Every day along with Bible reading, begin to add praise to your
every day. Play praise music while you get ready, while you do
chores. If you do this every day, praise will be in your heart, not
just in your mouth.
As you discover those songs that you really enjoy, and as you put
praise into your everyday, one day you will begin to sing a new
song to the Lord, one that comes straight from your heart.
Praise brings Jesus. The Bible says, “The Lord inhabits the praises of
His people.” Psalm 22:3 What does “inhabits” mean? Praise causes The
Lord to come and sit down and enjoy your praise, it causes you to
experience Jesus glorious presence.

This song is for any age. My 3 year old
granddaughter loves “Shout the Walls Down.”
She knows the words and during praise and
Itunes or Spotify worship at church she sings, jumps and claps.
There is also on Utube (I do not promote this streaming channel) but they
have DG Songs, it is all these Bible stores told by songs.
**Parents unless you have a premium account you will need to watch with
your children so you can skip the commercials. My granddaughter has
learned so many Bible stories with song.
Yancy is a great children’s resource for Praise & Worship Songs. If you have
ITunes or Spotify you can nd her music. I would suggest the Little Praise
party especially “Super Wonderful God” Both my granddaughters love this.
Praise brings Jesus. The Bible says, “The Lord inhabits the praises of His
people.” Psalm 22:3 What does “inhabits” mean? Praise causes The Lord
to come and sit down and enjoy your praise, it causes Him to make His
presence known to you. (Repeated because this needs to become our
lifestyle).

Moses cried out to the Lord. The Lord showed him a tree.
Moses takes the tree and threw it into the waters.
The moment the tree was thrown into the waters they

water sweet instantly or at all? NO and NO. Moses
talking to God about the problem, Moses listened and God
gave him the solution.

VERSE PUZZLE
This story and this verse is something you need to remember. So let’s write it on your heart by:
Coloring the picture, reading the verse, then reading the verse out loud. Now cut the picture into
strips, mix up the strips and then glue the strips in order of the 1 Cor 4:17a verse. Glue the strips in
order on construction paper, and then put this up and say this verse every day until you can say it
without reading it or seeing it.
Let’s Read!
Directions: Read EXODUS 16:1-6 Then read recap below. Color the donuts when you
have finished reading both. Answer the questions and then check your answers
against the Bible passage. Highlight the passage below where you find your
answers.
WE WANT FOOD!
The Camp of Israel left Elim and were traveling for three days. They were hungry
and they started craving all the food they ate in Egypt. The pots of meat and the
bread. They began to murmur and complain. They went to Moses and Aaron and
said, “We should have died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt instead of dying in this
wilderness.”
The Lord said to Moses, “Look, I will rain down bread from heaven, and the people
shall go out and gather a certain amount every day. I will test them whether they
will obey My commands or not.” “On the sixth day, they shall gather twice as much.”
As Aaron talked with the camp of Israel, they looked toward the wilderness and
behold the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud. And the LORD spoke to Moses
saying, “I have heard the complaints of the Camp of Israel. Speak to them and say,
“At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread:
And you shall know that I AM the LORD your GOD.
1. MOSES AND AARON SAID, “IN THE MORNING YOU SHALL SEE” WHAT?
2. READ THE SCRIPTURE VERSES IN THE BIBLE, HOW MANY TIMES DOES
IT SAY, “THE LORD HEARD YOUR COMPLAINTS.”
3. FOR MOSES TO REPEAT THIS SENTENCE SO MANY TIMES, AND FOR GOD
TO SAY IT ALSO WHAT DOES THIS TELL YOU ABOUT GOD?
WHAT IS IT?
Quails came at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all
around the camp. When the dew lifted, on the ground was a small round substance
as fine as frost. So the children of Israel said to one another, “What is it?” Moses
said, “This is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.”
The LORD has commanded, “Let every house gather according to what they need, one
Omer for each person per household.” The children of Israel did and gathered some
more and some less. Those that gathered much had nothing left over, and those who
gathered little had no lack. Every one gathered to what they needed.
2. IN THE MORNING AFTER THE DEW LIFTED THE GROUND WAS COVERED
WITH WHAT?
3. THE PEOPLE DIDN’T KNOW WHAT IT WAS SO WHAT DID THEY SAY?
7. DOES THIS TELL YOU THAT GOD KNOWS HOW MANY ARE IN
YOUR FAMILY AND KNOWS HOW TO PROVIDE FOR YOU SO
YOU HAVE ENOUGH AND NO LACK?
Let’s Read!
Directions: Read EXODUS 16:19-27 Then read recap below. Color the donuts when
you have finished reading both. Answer the questions and then check your
answers against the Bible passage. Highlight the passage below where you find
your answers.
SABBATH REST
Moses said, “Don’t leave any of it until morning.” But the people didn’t listen. Those
that left some till morning, it was full of worms and it stunk. Moses became angry
with them. They gathered it every morning, but on the sixth day they gathered
twice as much.
Moses said, “The LORD says, ‘tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a Holy Sabbath to the
Lord. Bake or cook what you need today and for tomorrow.” And they did and it did
not stink, and no worms were in it The next day, Moses said, “Eat today, today is a
Sabbath to the LORD, today you will not find any in the field.” But there were those
who went out anyway on the seventh day and they found none.
1. MOSES TOLD THE PEOPLE DON’T LEAVE ANY UNTIL THE MORNING,
BUT DID THEY OBEY?
MANNA
NA
MAN
The people rested on the seventh day. The camp of Israel called the name of the
bread from heaven, “manna.’ It was like coriander seed, white, and it tasted like
wafers of honey. Moses said, “The LORD commands to fill a jar of 3 lbs to be kept to
show the generations, so they can see the bread the LORD fed the Israelites in the
wilderness.”
Aaron did as Moses instructed him. And the LORD kept it for generations. The camp
of Israel ate manna for forty years until they came to a land inhabited; they ate
manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan which was the Promised
Land.
1. WHAT DID THE CAMP OF ISRAEL CALL THE BREAD FROM HEAVEN?
The LORD said, “Go on before the people and take with you some of the Elders of Israel.
Also take your rod with which you struck the river and go. I will stand before you there
on the rock of Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the
people may drink.” And Moses did so in the sight of the elders.
He called the name of the place Massah and Meridian which means “tempted” and
Contention (heated disagreement).
4. WHO DID MOSES TELL THE PEOPLE THEY SHOULD CHALLENGE AND
TEMPT?

1. Rod of God: Is a symbol of the Word of God - John 1:1 says Jesus is the Word.
2. Joshua: Joshua is a form of the name Jesus (because the Hebrew word for Jesus is
Joshua) but it is Jesus in us. Joshua was a leader of men, Jesus is our Leader
3. Moses lifting up his hands: It is lifting up the Word of God above all else in your life.
When you lift up the Word of God above everything then you praise and worship in
the battle because you know with the Word of God in your mouth and faith you will
win not your enemy.
4. Aaron and Hur: They represent those God sends with us to stand and hold us up in
prayer until we win
5. Stone/Rock: Jesus is our rock. Moses rested in Jesus. Moses faith and trust was in
God, God’s strength, God’s power, God’s Word.
6. Joshua fight with the sword: Our Armor of God what is our sword? Bible. We use the
Word of God to defeat our enemy (make them lay down) and flee from us because
we resist whatever attack they bring with the Word of God.
7. Write it down and rehearse it: The Word of God is written for us to read, hear, and
study it. Then we write those verses down so we do not forget them. We rehearse
them or say them and then do them.
8. God finishes it: I will remove all remembrance of this battle from under heaven. You
will need to write it down because you will never have to deal with this again. Jesus
said on the cross, “It is finished.”
Battle and Battle Strategy
You will have many battles in this life. On the earth we have enemies just like
Amalek.
• Sin
• Sickness
• Fear
• People not like us because we love Jesus
• Our feelings and our minds
You will have many battles. But if you do like Moses and Joshua:
• Get God’s Word in your hand and in your heart and speak it from your mouth
• Not just hearing but following the direction of the Word of God
• Praise God and Jesus no matter what you want to or feel like it
• Choose your friends wisely, those who will pray with you and encourage you with
Jesus and His love
prayerfully Choose my
friends wisely who
will stand with me, and
hold me up in prayer.
Thank you!
For downloading this Bible reading calendar with devotional & activities. I hope your
children will be blessed and that they grow to love God with all their heart and life. That if
they tend to complain and murmur, this month will encourage them to change this behavior. I
pray they will make prayer and praise with worship part of their every day just as they are
making Bible reading their life style.
