CALCULATION NOTE
FOR
TABLE OF CONTENTS
1.0 PURPOSE
The aim of this calculation report is to verify the fencing post embedded depth
into mass concrete foundation on flat ground for KTM Double Track Gemas-
JB Project.
2.0 SCOPE
Dead load shall include the weight of the materials forming a permanent part
of the structural elements and all other permanent equipment and materials
attached hereto.
Wind load means all loads due to the effect of wind pressure or suction. The
wind can blow in any direction and the most unfavorable case shall be
considered.
Factored load combinations (Ultimate Limit State – ULS) shall be used for
designing steel structures and concrete foundations.

For a 1800 mm fence height, Depth in ground as per Table 3 of BS 1722 is given 600 mm.
SUMMARY
From design guide given by ANSI/ASAE and BS1722, it is found that the embedment depth of post for
fencing height of 1800mm is 279mm and 600mm respectively. Adopt the greater as the required design depth.
