Prayer

Let us all stand for our opening prayer. Angel of God, my guardian dear to whom God's love
commits me here. Ever this day be at my side, to light and
Kylie, can you please lead the prayer. guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

Greetings
Good morning, Ma’am, good morning classmates, Good
What a beautiful day to begin! Good morning morning!
class! We are fine, Ma’am.
How are you today?
Good to hear that.
Class Structuring

Before you take your seats, kindly pick up the Yes, Ma’am.
trashes you can see inside the classroom and
arrange your chairs and tables properly. (The student will sit in their chair)

You may now take your seat.

Checking of Attendance None, Ma'am.

Class, is there an absent today?
No one is absent. Very good class!

A. Reviewing previous lesson or

presenting the new lesson

Are you ready to start our new lesson for today? Yes, Ma'am. We are ready!

Very good! But before that, let us recall your

previous lesson.

A.1 You have to analyze every picture that I will

show you on the slide and classify it as conductor
or insulator.

Tissue is non-magnetic, Ma'am.

1. 2. Nails are magnetic, Ma'am.

Cans are magnetic, Ma'am.

Bottle caps are non-magnetic, Ma'am.

3. 4. Spoon is magnetic, Ma'am.

Wooden table is non-magnetic, Ma'am.

5. 6.

Very good, class! Now, who wants to read and

give the answer to this? Yes, JC. Students are raising their hands.

A.3 Unlocking of Difficulties:

Now that you really understand the last topic, we
will then proceed to our new lesson.
When the poles of the two magnets are put near each other,

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson

(Shows pan and stove)
How do you feel inside our classroom?

do you think it's hotter or colder when we go up

why do you think so

Answer the following questions:

- What do you see in the picture?
Pan and stove, Ma'am.
- Where do pan and stove used for?
Those are for cooking foods, Ma'am.
- What might happen if you left the pan in an open
stove for a few minutes?
It will become hot, Ma'am.
- Why do you think the pan becomes hot?
Because of the heat coming from the fire of the stove, Ma'am.
Very Good class! You answer all the questions
correctly.
C. Presenting examples/ instances of the new
lesson

The selected students are actively participating in the activity.

Yesterday, you've learned about the procedure of

boiling water. Now, let us focus on the water
inside the kettle. In your opinion, why do the
water move as it boil?

Very good! I think it is because of the heat that causes water to move,
(The teacher will present her slides) Ma'am.

Heat is a form of energy associated with the

motion of particles and capable of being
transmitted through solid.

Example:
(Call some students to pick a paper in a box. One
student will put them in order according to the
procedure they picked about boiling water.
What are the procedures of boiling water?

A. When the water starts to boil, close the stove

and your hot water is ready.

B. Put some water in a kettle and place it on the

stove.

C. Wait for a few minutes for the kettle to become

hot.

D. Carefully open the stove to produce a fire.

This procedure or the process is called Heat

Transfer.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new

skill # 1

Yes Ma’am.
It is because the fire in the stove heated the pan.

Convection
- convection is a process of transferring heat
through liquid or gas.
Convection involves the motion of fluids in
currents. When water is heated in a kettle, the
molecules at the bottom get heated first. The
heated molecules move and rise pushing the top
molecules which are cold, to the bottom. The
colder molecules sink, get heated at the bottom,
and move up. Warm fluid rises and cold fluid
sinks forming currents. This movement continues
until the fluid is evenly heated and you see
bubbles are formed.
The students are listening carefully.

- Conduction happens when heat transfer through

solid materials by direct contact.
In our example a while ago, is there a conduction
happened?

Very good!

- The direction of the heat transfer is from a hot

object to a colder one.

All forms of matter are made up of tiny particles

called Molecules. When the molecules are heated,
the molecules will vibrate faster. When absorb
more heat, then they will vibrate faster that makes
temperature high. When the fast molecules strike
the object, some of its energy is transferred to the
other molecule that causes heat to be gained, or
not depending on the object being used.
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new
skill #2

The teacher will group the class into 2 groups to

do an activity.
The first group will have spoon, water, candle, and
match as their materials for the activity.
Procedure:
1. Using a match, carefully light up the candle.
2. Put enough amount of water on the spoon.
3. Place the spoon on the top of the candle to heat
it. Representative 1 - Good morning, everyone! As we observe the
4. Observe what will happen. experiment, we already having an idea based on our
experiences that the metal spoon will become heated easily
The second group will have a piece of paper and because of the hot water. After a minute, the butter melts little

Procedure:
1. Form the paper into a cylinder shape and place Representative 2 - Good afternoon, everyone! We observed that
it on the floor. the plastic spoon is not totally hot that causes butter to not melt
2. Using a match, carefully light a fire on the top at all. In conclusion, we realized that those of some kitchen

3. Observe what will happen. Thank you!

rubrics here

After performing the activity, there will be at least

1 representative in each group to discuss what they
have observed.

Metal fork, Ma'am.

All done everyone! You did well! Give yourself a

fireworks clap. Wood and clothes, Ma'am.

Upon observation, you found out that metal is

easily heated than plastic. Therefore, metal spoon
is a conductor. Can you give any object that is a
good conductor?

Very good!

The plastic spoon is called insulator as heat travel

to it slowly or not at all. Other than plastic, what
do you think is an example of insulator?

Good job, class!

F. Developing mastery (Leads to Formative
Assessment)

The teacher will show another experiment about

convection.

After the experiment, the students will answer the

following questions:
1. Where do heat comes from?
2. What happened to the paper when the candle
starts to light up?
3. Is it important to do an experiment? Why?

G. Finding practical applications of concepts

and skills in daily living

Class, if we are able to do experiments like we did No, Ma'am. If we are able to do experiments in order to know
before, do you agree to do burning of waste as different things, and able to recycle waste to create new things,
well to lessen unnecessaries in our home? then we should also learn to adapt things that will provide us a
positive effect not a negative one.

Great! We should learn to know our limits to

avoid danger in our environment as well as in our
health.
H. Making generalizations and abstractions
about the lesson

Direction: Complete each sentence with the

appropriate words from the box. The students will answer quietly.

1. _________ is the process of transferring

_________ through _________ or gas.

2. When liquid heated, the _______ molecules will

rise up pushing the ______ molecules to the
bottom.

called __________.
3. _________ are materials that allow heat to flow Yes Ma’am.
through solid materials easily.

passes slowly or not at all.

Are you done?

Let's check your answer.
Answer Key:
1. Heat
2. molecules
3. Conductors
4. Conductions

I. Evaluating learning

For your next activity, write if the statement is

Let's check your answers.

Answer Key:
1. FALSE
2. TRUE
3. TRUE
4. TRUE
5. TRUE
J. Additional activities for application or
remediation

From your previous activity, what makes number

1 false or wrong?
