Definition of terms

1. Alignment of track to course to be taken in college – refers to the match between the
educational pathway provided by the institution and the specific academic and career goals of
the student, ensuring that the curriculum and resources offered support the student’s desired
outcomes.

• Alignment: The extent to which a college’s track, or educational plan, meets the individual
student’s course requirements, ambitions, and career objectives. It includes how well the
college’s curriculum, resources, and support services fit the needs and goals of each
individual student.

• Track: A predefined set of courses, majors, minors, and extracurricular activities within a
college course that students can select from to become proficient in a specific field of study
or career choice. Tracks may be focused on liberal arts, STEM (Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics), business, healthcare, or vocational subjects.

• Course to be taken: refers to the planned course of study, or series of classes, comprising
core, electives, and prerequisites, that a student intends to take in order to complete
requirements, build skills, and accomplish goals for both their academic and professional
careers during their time in college.

- The Department of Education recommends future students and SHS pioneers to align
their track to the future career path of their likeness, as it will provide them a sketch of
their course and amplify their skills and readiness for their future subjects, giving the
students more practices and knowledge, thus, making them productive and globally
competitive.( Jocelyn S. Et al, 2019 ).

2. Assessment – refers the methodical procedure for gathering, combining, and analysing data
in order to assess or gauge an individual’s, a group’s, or an entity’s performance in a given
situation.
- Assessment is the systematic collection, review, and use of qualitative and
quantitative data to improve student learning and development. ( California State
University, 2022 ).
3. Content – refers to describes the information contained in any kind of communication,
including interactive, visual, aural, and textual content. It includes all data, concepts,
messages, and media intended to enlighten, entertain, or educate a viewer. Content can be
used for a variety of reasons on a variety of platforms and in a variety of circumstances. It
can take the shape of articles, films, photos, podcasts, social media posts, and interactive
applications. It is essential to digital marketing, education, entertainment, and the sharing of
information and also to the state of satisfaction.

- Content is information presented with a purpose distributed to people in a particular


form through a channel. ( Margot L. , 2011 ).

4. Instructional material used – Refers to the learning matarials that teachers may use to
achieve their learning objectives.

- Refer to those alternative channels of communication, which a classroom teacher can


use to concretize a concept during teaching and learning process. ( Donald M., 2021 ).

5. School Facilities – referes to the physical structures, amenities, and resources within an
educational institution that support teaching, learning, and overall student well-being.

- Consists of not only the physical structure and the variety of building systems, such as
mechanical, plumbing, electrical and power, telecommunications, security, and fire
suppression systems. The facility also includes furnishings, materials and supplies,
equipment and information technology, as well as various aspects of the building
grounds, namely, athletic fields, playgrounds, areas for outdoor learning, and
vehicular access and parking. ( Encyclopedia of Education, 2024 ).

6. Senior Highschool curriculum implementation – refers to the process of implementing the


curriculum created for pupils in their last two years of secondary school. In order to achieve
the desired learning outcomes listed in the curriculum standards, it entails putting different
techniques, methodologies, and resources into practice. This includes all aspects of ensuring
that students receive a thorough and relevant education that is suited to their needs and future
objectives, including course design and planning, instruction, assessment, and continuous
evaluation.
- Senior High School curriculum provided an avenue to enhance and develop more
skills for our graduates to become an expert to their field and become an agent of
change in the society.
Senior high school implementation aimed to equip the students with essential knowledge and
skills that will help them prepare better for the chosen path in the higher education,
employment, or entrepreneurship. ( Maricel C. Et al, 2019 ).

7. Senior Highschool students satisfaction –


Refers to the general sense of fulfilment and contentment that students in their latter years of
secondary school experience. It includes things like grades, extracurricular activities, peer
interactions, teacher support, school amenities, and the entire educational experience; these
things all play a part in helping senior high school students feel happy and fulfilled.

- Learners’ satisfaction is one of the significant factors for the school and university to
attain its goal in the field of education.( Marzo-Navarro, et al., 2022 ).

8. Pedagogy – refers to teaching and learning as an art, science, and practice. It includes all of
the tactics, procedures, and methods teachers employ to help students have productive
learning experiences. In order to provide meaningful and transformational educational
experiences, pedagogy entails analysing learners’ needs, devising curricula and instructional
materials, putting varied teaching strategies into practice, and measuring learning outcomes.

- The art, science, or profession of teaching especially education. ( Merriam Webster,


2024 ).
