Trends and Innovations:

A foundation of Pakistani-American motor engineers launched the prototype of the country’s

first indigenous electric vehicle, which was designed and developed together with local
university students and is expected to start being functional and ready for sale by the end of
2024. The vehicle was launched on Pakistan’s diamond jubilee, with the intention to help
boost the national economy and help clean up the environment and was christened “Nur-E
75”. Another new dynamic force in the market is Velktra, an E-Motorbike company fully
committed to locally producing electric motorbikes. Co-founders Fatiq Bin Khursheed and
Syed Raza Mohsin both moved from New York to launch a “revolution” in the motorbike
sector in Pakistan. Through 2023, Vlektra introduced more features than any other company
in Pakistan has in five years. Furthermore, at the forefront of the rapid and significant
changes to Pakistan's automotive landscape, is the Seres electric vehicle lineup. These
vehicles were introduced through a collaboration between Regal Automobiles Industries
Limited (RAIL) and Seres Corporation. The first in the lineup is the Seres S3, with a futuristic
design, promised to be functional, technologically advanced and environmentally friendly. In
the Lahore University of Management Sciences, a jointly-funded E-Mobility Centre was
established, with the aim of further propelling electric vehicle development in Pakistan.
