FA 1 is aqueous sodium carbonate, Na2CO3, containing 150.0 g of solid Na2CO3.xH2O in each

dm3 of solution. (500 cm3 plastic beaker, to be shared)

FA 2 is 0.110 mol dm–3 nitric acid, HNO3. (250 cm3 glass beaker)

Methyl orange indicator (small plastic beakers with dropper)

Apparatus:

One 25 cm3 pipette

One dropper

One wash bottle containing water

One 250 cm3 volumetric flask

One 50 cm3 burette

One 25 cm3 pipette ( You rinse the pipette after having pipetted FA 1 and then use the same
pipette when you will be performing titration)

One 250 cm3 conical flask

One empty 250 cm3 plastic beaker you will use to transfer all the FA3 prepared from dilution of
FA1

One burette stand

One funnel

You will perform 1 rough and a minimum of 2 accurate readings if they are within 0.10 cm3. If it

is not then you will perform a 3rd titration.
