ART APPRECIATION

•ART is one of the liberal arts that fall under

the discipline called Humanities.

• Humanities is a discipline (area of study)

concerned with the study of the liberal arts
(philosophy, art (s), languages, history,
theology, ethics).

• Scope of the Humanities. The Humanities,

therefore, includes the arts (visual arts,
auditory arts, and the performing arts) and the
other liberal arts.
 STUDYING THE ARTS
Study of the arts involves four divisions:
1. Art appreciation – the ability to understand,
interpret, and explore the arts for one’s
admiration and satisfaction.
2. Art history – study the development and
evolution of art from primitive period to
modern period
3. Art production – create your own artwork
4. Art criticism – using judgment in evaluating
different artworks based on a given criteria
