01 Introduction
INTRODUCTION
Fire-retardant wood has been treated
with fire-retardant chemicals to
produce a product that resists
ignition and significantly slows the
spread of fire. Many fire-retardant
wood products are also tested for
their durability in high moisture and
heat, as well as for corrosivity,
compatibility with paints and stains,
and whether the flame retardant
products leech from the wood.

03 Procedures
PROCEDURES
Selection of Wood

● The type of wood depends on

what our client desires for the
project. We offer several wood
types such as narra, acacia,
mahogany.
PROCEDURES
Preparation of Wood
● Preparing the untreated wood
before the process by ensuring
the dryness and moisture content
of the wood.
PROCEDURES
Selection of Chemical
● The type of chemical that we will
use depends to the purpose of the
wood. There are different
chemicals such as Boron-based,
Halogenic, and Nitrogen-based.
PROCEDURES
Wood Treatment
● Untreated woods is transported
into a retort, which is then sealed.
All the air inside of the retort is
removed allowing the chemical
agent to completely filled the
chamber. Pressure is constantly
applied inside to ensure the
chemical gets into the wood.
PROCEDURES
Quality Control
● Samples are taken from the batch
to analyzed if the quality and
durability standards are met.
04 Safety Analysis
Reports
SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORTS
Hazard Classifications
Exposure of Chemicals used in treatment:
● Workers and contractors may be exposed to chemicals
used in the fire retardant treatment procedure during
installation and maintenance

Structural Integrity Decreased Over Time:

● Long-term implications of fire retardant treatments on
wood structural integrity must be considered
SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORTS
Risk Assessment
Occurrence:
● During installation and Finishing

Potential Impacts:
● Skin irritation
● Serious eye irritation
● Respiratory irritation
SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORTS
First Aid Measures
Skin Contact:
● Wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water.

Eye Exposure:
● Flush eyes with clean water for at least 15 minutes,
holding the eyelids open.

Inhalation:
● Move the affected individual to an area with fresh air.
If the irritation or difficulty persists, seek medical assistance.

SUMMARIZATION/RELEVANCE

In conclusion, fire retardant wood is a good choice when you are

constructing in a place that is prone into fire accidents. It is proven
to be more fire resistant than a normal wood but the problem is fire
retardant wood contains toxic chemicals that can cause health
issues. However, you can use fire retardant varnish to add extra coat
to the wood and keep the harmful chemicals sealed. In this case, the
varnish-coated fire retardant should have maintenance in order to
avoid the harmful chemicals from leaking.
