Settle the Divine Model for your lifetime and give instructions in
accord with the Divine Model. . . . Because the path of the Di-
vine Model is the one for all, you must follow the Divine Model.
Nothing that replaces it can be called the Divine Model. If you
invent the Divine Model from your mind here and there, making
changes in the Divine Model, surely there will be no settling of
whatever matters.1

No parents intend to make their children suffer or go through


hardships. But if your mind clings to troubles, I cannot keep you
free from hardships or troubles, much as I try.3

十分の道を付けようと思うて掛かりて、世上から何でも彼でも、
打ち潰そうと思うて居る。 ······神の道、上の道、一寸言えば同じ。
事情の道とは世上の道、神の道は胸の道。世上の道はどんな事
して居ても、目にさえ見えねば通りて行ける。なれど胸の道は、
皆身に掛かる。道に二つある、世上の道、胸の道。世上の道には、
どんな穴が有るやら知れん、又剣が有るやら知れん。神の道は、
胸三寸の道であるから、通ろうと思うても通れん。これさえ十分
説き聞かせば、どんな事も皆治まる。

神の道は胸の道。世上の道はどんな事して居ても、目にさえ見
えねば通りて行ける。なれど胸の道は、皆身に掛かる。

When I began, I thought to lay a complete and perfect path. But


the world thinks only of destroying it by whatever means. . . .
The path of God [Kami-no-michi] and the path of those in high
places [kami-no-michi]: these sound the same. But the world’s
path is a path of manifestations, whereas God’s path is the path
of the heart. In the world’s path, you can do whatever you want
and get away with it, so long as no one sees you do it. But in
the path of the heart, it all comes to bear on yourself. 4 In the
path, therefore, there are two choices: the world’s path and the
path of the heart. In the world’s path, you never know what
pitfalls lie ahead or where swords await you. And since God’s
path is the path of the three-inch span of the heart, your ideas
of wanting to follow this path may not be enough to get you
through it. Now that I have explained this so fully, any and
everything should settle.5

God’s path is the path of the heart. As for the world’s path, you
can get away with anything you do, provided that it passes unno-
ticed. On the path of the heart, however, everything comes to
bear on the self.6

神に切る神は無い。なれど切られる心はどうもならん。仇言にも
捨言葉神は大嫌い。

If you have a large piece of land but do not sow it with seeds, it
is like a weedy hillside. A weedy hillside is only as valuable as a
weedy hillside. Only if you sow the land is it worth weeding.
Only because weeding was done have things become what they
are today.7
The seeds you have sown have all been accepted by God. All
seeds accepted by God will sprout.8

God never intends to disconnect. But the mind that is engaged in
disconnecting cannot be helped.9 God dislikes parting shots even
in trivial matters.10

If you are to settle the principle of daily life, for one thing you

さあ/\/\刻限を以て話し掛ける。さあ/\どういう事話し
掛けるなら、さあさあ一日の日も、よう/\の日、さあ/\明け
るなら一つという。さあ話し掛けたら、どういう事も万事話通り、
いかなるも皆今一時筆に書き取る処、一日の日が移る。五箇
年々々々と五箇年の日に移る。四方々々所々もいずれ/\五
年々々、どういう事、万事何かの事話し掛けるによって、事情は一
つ、人間の心の理というは更々持たぬよう。さあ/\五箇
年々々々、五年経ったらどういう道とも分かろまい。世界の道も分
かろまい。一年経てば一つの事情、又一年経てば一つの事情、
年に取りて六十一年、お陰/\と待ち兼ねたる処、又一つには
改正々々という、明治の代という、国会という。知らず/\待って
さあ楽しみの道は更にあろまい。一夜の間の事情を見よ。国会
二十三年と言うた一つの事情、又お陰/\の事情、よう思やん
せよ。さあ/\明ければ五年という。万事一つの事情を定め掛
け。定めるには人間の心は更々要らん。弱い心は更に持たず、気
兼ね遠慮は必ず要らん。さあ思やんしてくれ。これから先は神一

Timely Talk:

Sah, sah, sah, because the time presses, I shall begin timely di-
rections. Sah, sah, what I begin to speak about is the day. Sah,
sah, that day is approaching. Sah, sah, when the year ends, the
day will come. Sah, once I begin to talk, everything will happen
as I tell you. Record everything I say. The days pass one by one.
The days will pass, five years, five years; the Fifth Anniversary.
There is anticipation of the Fifth Anniversary; the Fifth Anniver-
sary in various places, in all areas of the country. I shall tell you
My will concerning the anniversary. Whatever you do concern-
ing the anniversaries, keep in mind one thing: never center your
thoughts on human thinking. Sah, sah, in five years, in five years,
you cannot imagine how this path will change, nor how the
world will change. A year passes, one thing is overcome. An-
other year passes, another thing is overcome. Thus has the path
and the world changed. People wait for the pilgrimage of grati-
tude to the Ise Shrine. Sixty-one years have passed since the last
pilgrimage. The era has changed, changed. It is now the Meiji
Era. The Diet has been formed. The years have passed and you
have waited. The path of human promise still does not come. An
era has changed overnight, and the Diet took twenty-three years
to be formed. And the pilgrimage of gratitude lies before you.
You must ponder deeply over the events. Sah, sah, with the close
of the year will come the Fifth Anniversary. You must make a
single-hearted resolution to meet the Fifth Anniversary. To make
such a resolution, human thoughts are entirely unnecessary.
Away with faint-heartedness, away with hesitation. Sah, I ask
you to ponder. From now on take the path of single-heartedness
with God. The Diet cannot settle the world. Only the path of sin-
gle-heartedness with God

らん。神一条の道で治める。怖わい道があって、やれ楽しみとい
う。五年々々の事情もう経ち切ったる。一つの日柄、世上には余
程の理も運び、よう/\の理が一寸治め掛け。治め掛けは、何
か難し道である。どういう事も難しい。年が明けたら五年、一日
の日から始める。国々国々の処、万事取り締まり、さあ/\何か
談示々々、談示の決は、これまでよりも神のさしづ。さしづ通りの
道なら、どんな事も遠慮気兼ねするやない。さあ楽しんだ。五箇
年楽しんだ。一日の日、万事談じ、又思わく一つの事情は、又々
尋ねてくれるよう。

これまでの処、難儀苦労の道を通り来た。よう聞き分け。蒔いた
種さえ、よう/\の事で生えんのもある。蒔かぬ種が、生えそう
な事があるか。根性の悪い話すると思うやろ。だん/\に土台を
入れて固めてある。なれど、あちらが弛み、こちらが弛みする。四
方正面鏡やしきという理が明らかなれば、何が弛もうに。これよ
う聞き取れ。いつ/\の理に楽しんでくれるよう。

Only the path of single-heartedness with God will settle the world.
The path of single-heartedness with God will lead you through
even frightening events to true joy. The time for the Fifth Anniver-
sary is pressing. For the Fifth Anniversary, you have tried your
best to spread My teachings to the world, and churches have begun
to be established all over the country. Because it is yet the begin-
ning of the path which will settle the world, there are many diffi-
culties. With the new year will come the Fifth Anniversary. I shall
then begin to settle the difficulties. You must brace yourselves to
further the path throughout the country. Sah, sah, it is necessary
that you discuss, discuss the matters of management. Your deci-
sions must be based on My directions, as in the past. If you follow
My directions exactly, you need not hesitate or worry at all. Sah,
all of you have been looking forward to this event. Five years have
you waited expectantly. To prepare for the day, you must discuss.
If there is a problem, ask Me.13

Until now I have passed through a path of hardship and trouble.


Understand well. Even with seeds that have been sown and given
great care, some will not sprout. How can you expect sprouts
from seeds unsown?14 You might think that My words are from
spite. I laid the foundation and made it firm, step by step. But it
becomes weakened here, weakened there. This Residence is the
Residence of Mirrors with four fronts. If this truth were clear to
you, there would have been no weakening. Understand this well.
I ask you to become joyful concerning the truth which will never
change.15

一つの理に移り掛け。五箇年以前身は迫り、目は見えず、耳は
聞こえず。余儀無く事情によって、五年以前の道、難しかったで
あろう。だんだん案ぜた道、よう/\一寸の道、これからどういう
事始める。一年の後というは、一寸の理は見え掛けた。 ······皆
それ/\存命中の心で通れば、それだけの道を見せよう。さあ
/\しっかり筆に書き取って、皆々にも伝えくれるよう。

かんろだいを御休息所の方へ御勤に付、持って行く事の願

さあ/\理を知らそ。かんろうだいというは、何処にも無い、一つ
のもの。所地所何処へも動かす事は出来ないで。

sprouts to come up?16

An old matter, the path was conveyed step by step, and it is al-
ready the fifth year since I withdrew. I have moved into the One
Truth. Five years ago My body was nearing its time: the eyes
could not see, the ears could not hear. Because of unavoidable
circumstances, the path was surely difficult to follow five years
ago. A path of one worry after another thus opened into a slight
path. What would begin from this path? One year later, a slight
truth came into sight.17. . . If each of you has faith that I am ever-
living, the path will grow. Sah, sah, carefully write down all that
I say and share it with one and all.18

February 20, 1891

On the request to move the Kanrodai in front of the Resting House


of Oyasama in order to perform the Service there:

Sah, sah, I shall inform you of the truth. The Kanrodai is the
one thing which exists at no other place. You must not move
it to any other ground.19

A further request followed directly as to whether the Service


should be performed that night at one o’clock:

Sah, sah, activities far into the night are not needed. Perform
when the preparations are made.21

Husbands and wives are brought face to face with their causality
in their daily lives. Listen and grasp well the causality you are
shown as you go through life.22

People will grow if you nurture them. Unless you nurture them,

Apply joyous acceptance to the days when you feel dissatisfac-
tion. Things arise, day in day out. Settle the mind to accept these

You must set your mind not to worry. Where there would other-
wise be joy, you are creating worries day after day.29

worry. If you understand the principle of the age of fifteen, I

こゝの道理をよう思やんしてみよ。

dren suffer or go through hardships.35

Your devotion in the shadows has been fully accepted. . . . Long
years of devotion will lead to future happiness. A brief devotion
will not. The same as a quickly blooming flower, cut and placed
in a vase; it is not a path. Sah, sah, a deeply rooted flower is long
in coming, but will bloom for years and years. Branches will
sprout from branches. The root will remain strong. Ponder over
this truth.36

In the same manner that I began to undertake creation, I assem-


bled instruments. It was no easy task to assemble them. Concern-
ing this matter of instruments, there are a variety of instru-

To resolve or not to resolve? Everything will settle after you re-


solve. Settling does not precede resolving. Settling follows re-
solving. . . . Resolve and get started—that is the path of single-
