不自由難儀尽し果てたら、どうするかと思う。なれど、尽した理は
生涯末代。楽しみ心の理、天に受け取りある。よう聞き分け。人
間は一代、生き通りとは言えまい。心は末代生き通りと言えば楽
しみ。尽した理は、放って置かれん、捨てゝ置かれんが理。年々こ
うのうによって放って置かれん、捨てゝ置かれん末代の理。

deviates from the path.1

You might think, “What if I lose everything as a result of carry-
ing out contribution, which may entail going through hardships
and difficulties?” However, the truth of your contribution will
endure for a lifetime and for eternity. The truth of delight in your
mind will be accepted by Heaven. Listen and understand well. A
human being lives only for a lifetime and cannot be said to live
forever. However, you can take delight if I tell you that the mind
is eternal. The truth of your contribution cannot be allowed to go
unnoticed or be abandoned—such is the truth. The truth for eter-
nity cannot be allowed to go unnoticed or be abandoned, because
its effectiveness builds gradually year after year.3

The Seki is the same as other humans. But when he speaks as the
Seki, it is God that is speaking. 4. . . There is the one truth of the
back; there is the one truth of the front. Two are one in truth.5

What I refer to as the Seki is human—the same as you. But the


teachings I give through the Seki emanate from Heaven.6

さあ/\尋ねる事情/\、身の理の心得んから尋ねる。尋ねる
からは一つ諭し置くが、よく聞き分けにゃ分かり難ない。さあこの
道は、心だけの道である/\。どうせこうせ言えん。言えんがよく
聞き分け。人間というは、身の内かりもの・かしもの/\、心だけ
は我がの理。心の理、よう聞き分けにゃ分かり難ない。どういう
事もこういう事も、皆世界を眺めて心にたんのう/\。心に楽し
み無うては働けようまい/\。身の内速やかで心勇む。心勇め
ば身の内障り無きもの。

堪いるに堪いられん。よう聞き分け。道は末代理である。心鎮め
て胸に治めにゃならん。何でこうなると日々であろ。なれど、心取
り直せ。

June 1, 1900*

Sah, sah, regarding the matter with which your inquiry is con-
cerned, you inquire because you do not understand the truth
about the body. Since you inquire, I will tell you one thing. But
you will have a hard time understanding it unless you listen care-
fully. Sah, this path is a path for the mind alone, the mind alone.
I cannot tell you to do this or that. Though I cannot tell you, lis-
ten and understand well. With human beings, the body is a thing
borrowed, a thing lent. The mind alone is the truth of oneself. 11
Concerning the truth of the mind, you will have a hard time un-
derstanding it unless you listen carefully. Whatever occurs and
however it happens, look at the world and accept everything with
joy in your mind. Without delight in your mind, you will not be
able to work. Your mind will become spirited if the physical con-
dition swiftly clears up. If your mind is spirited, there will be no
such thing as a disorder of the body.12

You feel it is more than you can bear. Listen well and under-
stand. The path is the truth for eternity. You must quiet the mind
and settle it in the heart. Day after day, you wonder why things
turn out the way they do. Instead, be spirited.13

満足広く通り、不足はあちら縮める、こちら狭ばむ。

明治三十三年九月十四日

名称は、これはこれ長い年限の間に、又候々々では、世上へ渡る
事出けんから、あちらこちら、ほんの路銀を渡したるようなもの。·
·····何も知らん者寄って、高い低いは言わず渡りた。 ······掛かり
は年相当の者寄り合うて天然の道を楽しんで居る。······指五つ
に加わりてくれ。あんな者あんな者と言うその中に一つ理結ん
で年重ねたら、どのくらいの者に成るとも分からん。

運び合うて繋ぎ合うて、陽気の心治めるなら、又々五本の指を栄
えるというさしづして置こう。

striction here and limitation there.14

Churches are, in a sense, meant to tide you over by helping to
cover your traveling expenses because you may not be able to
reach out to the world for a long time if you only take halfway
measures.15. . . Those who had no relevant knowledge got to-
gether to follow the path without saying anything about who is
higher in rank than whom. . . . In the early days, people [made
sincere efforts] befitting their years, and now they are enjoying
the path of nature together. . . . I want you to join together like
the five fingers on a hand. Even among those whom others are
belittling, there is no telling how great some will become if they
stay anchored in the one truth as they gain years.

This I tell you: if you connect with one another and implement
dedication together while settling your minds in joy, the five fin-
gers will prosper further.16

真実一つ理より無い。真実は神が働く。神が働けば、後にそうで
あったなあと楽しむは道。

教祖始めた理よりすれば、迷いは一つも無いものなれど、あちら
も取り混ぜこちらも取り混ぜ、世間のような事に成るからどうも
ならん。

これ/\連れて戻りた。大工無かったら、満足無くして暮れて了
わにゃならん。······
······この道人間心で色品変えてやってみようと思たとて、そりゃ
行きゃせん。

中に楽しみ/\から働く。働くから成り立つ。皆義理や役で働け
ば、皆、後の理が無い。

You have nothing to depend on but the one truth of sincerity. If


you have sincerity, God will work for you in response. If God
works, you will be able to take delight, witnessing the truth of
God’s words. Such is the path.18

If you based yourself on the truth Oyasama revealed, you would


not have a single doubt. But you mix things in from here and mix
things in from there, and you end up being worldly common. It
will not do.19

I brought back the carpenter. Without the carpenter, I would have


passed the days of My life without satisfaction.20. . .
. . . With regard to this path, expedients based on human
thoughts will not work, whatever these be.21

Because it brings delight, you work. Because you work, things
get accomplished. But work done out of a sense of obligation or
duty will bring about no lasting truth.22

成っても成らいでも夫婦というものは、神という理より頼りが無
いという処の理を定めにゃならん。

明治三十三年十月三十一日 午前二時

この道始め家の毀ち初めや。やれ目出度い/\と言うて、酒肴
を出して内に祝うた事を思てみよ。変わりた話や/\。さあ/\
そういう処から、今日まで始め来た/\。世界では長者でも今
日から不自由の日もある。何でもない処から大きい成る日があ
る。家の毀ち初めから、今日の日に成ったる程と、聞き分けてく
れにゃなろまい。

国々名称の理を下ろしてある。教会々々、一名称々々々、芯という
者あろ。よう聞き分け。その者から心分かりてくれ。······あちらこ
ちら神が駈け廻り、修理肥を撒いたるようなもの。これは容易で
なかった。これからは取り込み一条、今ぢばに何人居るか。

Regardless of whether or not things are happening as you wish,
you must as husband and wife settle in your minds the truth that
there is no other dependable guide besides the truth called God.23

To begin this path, we dismantled the house. Think of the day we
celebrated the occasion, serving people sake and a little food,
saying, “How joyous! How joyous!” Indeed, it is an unusual
story, an unusual story. Sah, sah, from such a situation we started
and have come to this day, have come to the present situation. In
the world, there is such a case that a millionaire suddenly be-
comes poor and a person from the lowest position becomes great.
This path has grown up to the present from the dismantling of the
house. You must understand this.24

I have granted the truth of a church name to various places.


Church, church, a church name. At each church, there is a person
who is its core. Understand well. That person should be the first
one to understand My heart.25, 26. . . God was rushing around here
and there trying to weed and fertilize, as it were. That was not
easy. From now on, there will only be harvesting. How many
persons are there at Jiba now?27

In this path, faith must be reflected in the minds of children while


they are still young.28 It will not do to wait until they are older. 29
It must be difficult for them to follow the path if the mundane
world is reflected in their minds and if their lives are based on
matters of the mundane world.30, 31

の一花のようなもの。前々からいかな処も聞き分けて諭してくれ。
皆教祖存命の間の言葉一つ万刧末代の理、この言葉長くこの
順序諭し置こう。よう聞き分け。女という中に何を下だしたという
理は、数々あらせん。教祖存命で下だした理というものは、学者
智者から出けた理やない/\。言葉一つ理は何ぼのこうのうと
も限り無い。うっかり思ては何処にどういう事こういう事あるとも
分からん。

Selfishness may be well for the individual but it will never be the
truth that will bring peace to all.34

Almost everyone has come to this path through health disorders.


Those who have come to this path for reasons other than health
disorders are very few. I want you to understand and teach all the
things that have already been taught. 36 The words Oyasama
spoke while physically present are the eternal truth for all gener-
ations. I teach you to impart the truth of Her words through all
time to come. Listen and understand well. Few are the women
who revealed divine truth. The truth Oyasama revealed while
physically present did not come from scholarly learning or hu-
man wisdom. Yet, there is no limit to the effectiveness gained
from the truth of Her words. If you are not attentive, you may not
understand what is shown here and there.37

一夜の間にも入れ替え、入れ替えしたら受け取る、と話の理も
諭したる。これ知らずして、通りてはどうもならん。口でどのような
事唱えたとて、心に行い無くして神が受け取り出けん。

told you the truth of the teaching: If you replace the mind, I will
accept it. It will not do to go through life without knowing this. 39
No matter what is said by mouth, unless it is carried out with sin-
cerity, it will not be accepted by Me.40

Take delight in being able to work day after day without any dis-
satisfaction about the body:41 once this principle settles, every-
thing will settle.42
