Stair climbing is an important functional task that indicates independence, and generating
power to climb stairs is a vital component of this task. Power during stair climbing is
traditionally calculated using potential energy (PE), but it may be important to determine
power expended using kinetic energy (KE)

a) A cycle ergometer is a stationary exercise bike that measures the amount of work done by
pedaling the bike. Cycle ergometers can be used as part of fitness tests, including those
administered for workplace health and safety programs.
b) The maximum power output of a diesel engine is normally limited by the acceptable level of
exhaust smoke. Consequently the factors which influence the formation of carbon particles
(soot) are of great importance to the engine designer. There are a number of parameters
which influence the rate of formation of soot particles.
c) Peak power output (PPO), also known as "peak work rate" is a common measure of exercise
intensity. For example, researchers may ask subjects to complete an incremental exercise
test where VO2max is measured while the person cycles at increasingly difficult power
generation levels as measured by a cycle ergometer.

3). The ability of the neuromuscular system to generate maximal power is affected by a range of
interrelated factors. Maximal muscular power is defined and limited by the force-velocity
relationship and affected by the length-tension relationship.

A). This is a test made with aerospace structures that will need to support inertia loads. The
objective of this kind of test is to verify if the structure is strong enough to support these loads
without a static failure.

B). Barometric pressure exerts by far the greatest influence of the three environmental factors
(barometric pressure, temperature and humidity) on power outputs from air-braked ergometers.
The barometric pressure correction factor for power outputs from air-braked ergometers is in
widespread use but apparently has never been empirically validated. Our experiment validated this
correction factor by calibrating two air-braked cycle ergometers in a hypobaric chamber using a
dynamic calibration rig.

C). Isokinetic testing is an objective way to evaluate dynamic stability of the knee joint that estimates
the quality of rehabilitation outcome after ACL reconstruction.
