DAB-Scout.3 – User Guide

Important notice

Windows restart / power saving mode:

The DAB-Scout.2 USB receiver is no longer functional when the PC returns from a Windows restart or
from a sleep mode. In that case the DAB-Scout.2 USB receiver must be re-connected to the PC. Only
this procedure reloads the firmware into the USB receiver so that it is functional again.

It is advised to connect the USB receiver to an USB port that has a good accessibility (USB port on the
PC front). To use the DAB-Scout.2 receiver in permanent operation the Windows power saving mode
should be disabled.

USB HUB:

It was observed that the DAB-Scout.2 USB receiver does not work properly in combination with some
USB HUBs. It is recommended to connect the DAB-Scout.2 USB receiver directly to a PC USB port. A
passive USB extension cable can be used to keep the receiver out of a noisy PC near field.

No EDI reception:

If no data can be received via the source EDI network and the software VirtualBox (Oracle) is installed
on the PC the VirualBox Host-Only Adapter should be deactivated.

and packaging errors of TPEG frames are flagged here. Deletions in the TII list are presented
her no later than 30 seconds after their occurrence.

• DAB Decoder: This displays status messages from the service decoder. For instance, you can
view the point in time at which a MOT Object was received.

• DAB Source: This displays source-specific status messages. For instance, you can monitor
whether the tuning to a specific frequency was successful.

• FIG Database: Multiplex reconfigurations are flagged up here.

• External Processes: Status messages from external decoders are displayed here. For
example, messages from external IRT TPEG decoders appear here.

• DABScout.3: General software messages are displayed here – for instance, a message about
the selected DAB service.

With the button “Delete messages” the log messages of the selected tab can be deleted.

The presented log messages can be stored in a log file. The button “Start file logging” starts or
terminates the recording of the log messages. The log files are stored in the document directory of
the user.

6.1 Logger filter

The output of the individual logger tab can be filtered. Therefore, the user can define his own filters.
A predefined filter can be activated per tab. Only log messages that match the filter will be presented
then.

6.2 Logger filter definition and configuration

The filter functionality can be configured using the following buttons:

The button activates and de-activates a filter. With the buttons and a filter can be
added or deleted. Existing filters can be edited via the button .

Use two hashtags (##) if you want to add a comment to the filter at the end of the line.

There are two types of filter formats:

• Simple text filter. This filter is not case sensitive.

• Regular expression. These filters must contain the prefix “REGEXP:”.

Example: You can use the following regular expression to show only “Road Traffic Flash”
announcements:
regexp:\[Announcement\].*\(Cluster:.*\)\(Subchannel:.*\)\( 0 [01] 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 \)$
