of the 8% solution, how many liters of 2% solution will have to be added?

Q1. A company produces certain items. The manager in the company used to make a data
record on daily basis about the cost and revenue of these items separately. The cost and
revenue functions of a product are given by C(x) = 20x + 4000 and R(x) = 60x+ 2000
The company manager wants to know:
i) How many items must be sold to realize some profit

ii) Also, if the cost and revenue functions of a product are given by C(x) = 2x + 400
and R(x) = 6x + 20 respectively, where x is the number of items produced by the
manufacturer. The minimum number of items that the manufacturer must sell to
realize some profit is.

iii) Solve for x: 12x + 7 < -11 OR 5x – 8 > 40

iv) Solve for real x: 37 – (3x + 5) ≥ 9x – 8(x-3)


Q2. An urn contains twenty white slips of paper numbered from 1 through 20, ten red slips of
paper numbered from 1 through 10, forty yellow slips of paper numbered from 1 through
40 and ten blue slips of paper numbered from 1 through 10. These 80 slips of paper are
shuffled so that each slip has the equal chance of being drawn. A slip is drawn at random
from the urn.
Based on the above information, answer the following questions:
i) Find the probability that slip drawn is blue or white.
ii) Find the probability that slip drawn is numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5.
iii) Find the probability that slip drawn is red or yellow and numbered 1, 2, 3 or 4.
iv) Find the probability that slip drawn is white and number higher than 12 or yellow
and the number higher than 26.
Q3. In a survey of 40 students, it was found that 21 had taken Mathematics, 16 had taken
Physics and 15 had taken Chemistry, 7 had taken Mathematics and Chemistry, 12 had
taken Mathematics and Physics, 5 had taken Physics and Chemistry and 4 had taken all
the three subjects.
Based on the above information, answer the following questions:
i) Find the number of students who had taken Mathematics only.
ii) Find the number of students who had taken Physics and Chemistry but not
Mathematics.
iii) Find the number of students who had taken exactly one of the three subjects.
iv) Find the number of students who had taken none of the subjects.
