Job Summary and Characteristics

Job Summary:
• Physicians administer cosmetic medical procedures to onboard guests
• Physicians are expected to promote their services onboard to meet their
revenue or sales targets
• The position reports directly to the Spa Manager

Job Characteristics:

• Ability to communicate in a “selling versus telling” style
• Team environment: must be willing to work jointly with other team members
• Work an average of 52 hours every 7 days with the maximum number of 70
work hours in a 7-day period. Schedules are set by Spa Manager and based
on business need

• Valid diploma from an accredited medical school – check World

• At least two years of hands-on clinical experience
• Experience in aesthetic medicine is a plus

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Sales:
• Conducting patient consultations
• Promote medi-spa onboard
• Sell medical aesthetic treatments and providing outstanding customer service
• Strong, friendly follow up necessary post treatment with clients to ensure desired results
achieved
• Overcome guest objections diplomatically
• Dress and present oneself professionally – professional business attire required
• Develop friendly relations with the spa team and clients
• Be on time for work, prompt for each appointment
• Train new spa staff in Medi-Spa services/cross-promotion skills – follow up must be carried out
to ensure staff are confident with services and promotions

Clinical:
• Administer aesthetic treatments to guests (Dysport, Restylane)
• Assure compliance with standard and regulations, including company policies and medical
protocols
• Responsible for quality of work
• Maintain complete and accurate medical records

Wages and Accommodations

Earnings are commission-based:


• Service commission based on the following tiered structure:
• 3.0% on the first $500 in average daily medi-spa service revenues
• 4.0% on average daily medi-spa service revenues greater than $500 and less than
$1,000
• 5.0% on average daily medi-spa service revenues greater than $1,000
• 9% commission on retail products
• No commission will be earned on the first $50 equals 1.6/day
• 15% automatic gratuity on all spa services
• $800 monthly guarantee. The company guarantees one will earn $800 in commissions
and gratuities each calendar month
• The average monthly earnings for Medi-Spa at Sea physicians is $4,000-$4,400 USD
per month.

Accommodations:
• All food and accommodations are paid for by the Company
• Each physician is assigned a single crew cabin with a private bathroom
• Onboard, physicians maintain the same privileges as an officer and are allowed access
to specific guest areas (permission to use guest areas varies by cruise line)

Medi-Spa Training

• 12 training courses offered annually


• Each training course consists of:
• 10 days (over two weeks) of online training using our online
training platform
• 4 days in person training at OSW corporate office in Miami, FL
• Training is only offered for hired medi-spa physicians
• During training, physicians have a comprehensive review of both the
sales and clinical aspects of the position
• Role play consultations
• Role play onboard promotions
• Observe Dr. Martin (US Board Certified Plastic Surgeon)
performing injectible treatments on 8-9 patients
• Typically, physicians will join their assigned vessel 1-5 days following
our in-person training
• Ship assignments are based on performance during training

Pre-Requisites for Contract
Travel Documents:
• Must have a valid passport (within 18 months of expiry from contract end date).
• C1/D Visa
• Maritime Medical exam – Cost to be paid by the Employee; requirements will be given by
the company. Physicians must be declared fit to work in order to work onboard
• Successful completion of Medi-Spa program training
Summary of Employee Expenses:
• Pre-employment medical exam
• Flight to Miami to attend training
• Hotel accommodations and meals while in Miami, FL for training (OSW to provide
affordable options)
Summary of Company Expenses:
• Sales and Clinical Training
• Required Visas for ship assignment (including C1/D visa)
• Flights from Miami to assigned vessel
• Flights from ship at the end of the contract to their home country (Gateway City)

OneSpaWorld Medi-Spa Physician – Detailed Job Description

This position requires physicians to live and work continuously on a cruise ship for the
entire duration of a contract. Contracts are 7 months long. Physicians are assigned to
one ship for the entire duration of each contract. Upon completion of a contract,
physicians may opt to complete additional contracts.

A Letter of Recommendation from Dr. Martin will be provided upon request at the
successful and satisfactory completion of a physicians’ first contract.

Wages
Earnings are commission-based:
• Service (treatments) commission based on the following tiered structure. Each tier of
sales achieved earns a different commission structure on those sales:
o 3.0% on the first $500 in average daily medispa service revenues
o 6.0% on average daily medispa service revenues between $500.01 and $1,000
o 7.0% on average daily medispa service revenues greater than $1,000

• No commission will be earned on the first $50/day. This equates to $1.50/day (3% x
$50)
• 15% automatic gratuity on all spa services
• 9% commission on retail product sales
• $800 monthly guarantee. The company guarantees one will earn $800 in commissions
and gratuities each calendar month. For example: if after commissions and gratuity a
physician has earned $600 in a calendar month the company will pay $200 to ensure the
physician earns $800 in that calendar month. Another example: if one earns $3,200 in
commissions and gratuity in a calendar month the company will not pay any additional
monies because the physician has made over $800 in that calendar month

The average monthly earnings for Medi-Spa at Sea physicians is $4,000-$4,400 USD per
month.
Each physician is personally responsible for paying taxes according to their respective home
country’s tax laws. U.S. citizens and U.S. Green Card holders will be required to complete a W4
prior to starting a contract.

Living Expenses and Accommodations


All food and accommodations are paid for by the Company. Each physician is assigned a single
crew cabin with private bathroom onboard the cruise ship. Please note, crew cabins are very
basic accommodations.

Training
Training consists of two parts:
Part One begins at home. We assign “Brainshark” lessons to deliver our training
material. Brainshark is a web-based platform that we use to deploy training and reference
material to help you succeed in your practice onboard. These Brainshark lessons will include all
the necessary clinical, sales, business and marketing materials.
Part Two consists of a mandatory 5-day training course in Miami, FL that physicians must
complete before they are able to practice on board. This training is organized to provide doctors
with all the tools needed to manage a successful and unique practice on board cruise ships.

Only hired physicians will be provided the online materials and attend training. Doctors are
advised in advance if they are offered a position onboard. If hired, the company will assist with
pre-employment requirements prior to coming to Miami for training. Generally, doctors are
placed on a ship 1-5 days after completion of the training.

The training includes sales/business/marketing training as well as clinical training. The training
course will cover the following:
Managing and establishing client expectations
Understand basic spa and Medi-Spa operations
Understand how to manage Medi-Spa business and ways to achieve revenue targets
Present an effective spa tour speech
Present an effective Medi-Spa seminar
Overview and practice of aesthetic consultation
Gain understanding and practice of sales techniques
Basic Facial anatomy
Background/info on BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, Restylane® family of dermal fillers
Mechanism of action of BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, Restylane® family of dermal fillers
Proper follow-up and treatment of complications
Storage, preparation, and dilution methods
Injection techniques for best clinical and aesthetic outcomes
Observation of injections only, as State Law prohibits foreign physicians from performing
treatments in the U.S.

The clinical training will be conducted by Dr. Martin, a renowned board certified by the American
Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery, and the International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons.. In addition to learning
from Dr. Martin during the training course, physicians will observe him perform treatments in
his practice.

From this training, physicians will learn valuable skills to take with them in their clinical practice.
There is no cost to attend the training. Doctors will be responsible to pay for room and board.
The company will provide options for affordable travel accommodations.

Pre-requisites for Contracts


Travel Documents:
o Must have a valid passport (within 6 months of expiry from contract end date).
o o Non-US citizens will need to obtain a C1-D visa. A C1-D Visa is a non-
immigrant transit visa and is required even if one has a US valid immigrant visa.
The company will provide the required paperwork and carry the cost of obtaining
a C1/D visa and/or UK Visitor’s Visa (if traveling to the UK) and/or Schengen visa
(if traveling to Europe).
o No C1/D visa is required for US green card holders
Maritime Medical exam – Cost to be paid by the Employee; requirements will be given
by the company. Physicians must be declared fit to work in order to work onboard.

What the company pays for:


Sales and Clinical Training

Flight from ship at the end of the contract to a mutually agreed upon location, generally
the largest international airport closest to the home city.

A copy of the contract is provided prior to boarding assigned vessel.

Malpractice Information
Physicians are expected to follow all medical protocols as outlined by Dr. Martin.
OneSpaWorld will cover claims against Medi-Spa at Sea physicians, if they are to arise, if the
company protocols were followed.
